Skunk Day '24
That tail is so big you need more that just ONE day to appreciate it (Skunk day was 6/14)
Remake of Solt for NATIONAL SKUNK DAY (June 14th).
Solt is a Sunda Stink Badger, native to the Sunda Islands. Related to skunks under the family, Mephitidae. Just like skunks, when threatened, stink badgers can spray a foul smelling liquid from their glands to deter predators.
There are 2 kinds of stink badgers: the Palawan Stink Badger and the Sunda Stink Badger
Happy July 14th to you skunks 🦨
I think every Skunk Day I'm going to upload a new refsheet
I Made a YouTube Tutorial - UE4 Spider-Man Web-Swinging
Over the break, I figured out how to do web swinging.
Today, I decided to give back to the community and make a tutorial for it.
Turns out, I forgot to save the project after recording. Well, at least my awkwardness gives people time to catch up ;)
Say congrats to those stinky animals! These guys are so underrated. People who like opossums and raccoons need to like skunks
Happy skunk day!!! I haven't been able to draw my annual ref sheet update with work and travel, but I hope to make one by the end of June :3 🦨🦨🦨
Another year of Blogging :|
With university creeping around the corner, I’ve decided to get back into the habit of blogging; to stop that initial stutter we’ll all face on the first few days/weeks.
So..... what have I done over the break. Well, I enrolled into my papers, developed a few skills, gamed, went out, indulged in humanoid social interactions and most importantly.... slacked off. :)
2016 Papers
Semester 1:
Transdisciplinary Inquiry
Programming 2
Studio 3
Semester 2:
Entrepreneurship and Innovation
Program Design and construction (Freakin’ 8 am class :( )
Studio 4
Personally, the hardest part of this year; would be having to worry about exams for the CompSci electives.
Things I Learnt
1. C++
Throughout December, I have been slowly tackling this beast. In the end, I learnt the overall syntax. However, I rarely used it beyond basic commands; to the command prompt. I followed a few tutorials on using it in UE4, however most of the time I found myself lost and consistently asking myself “The code works, but.... I don’t know why?”.
I’ve decided to stop here and finish programming 2, before I seriously go back into beast’s den.
2. I can’t force myself to be a general designer
Realising that there is a large demand for designers, when looking at internships. I tried visual design, but hated anything I produced and each piece of work might have given me eye cancer. I felt the same for most other fields.
However, level design was adequate. I still suck at it and it was the weakest part of my DIY. But, Gameloft were offering a level designer internship. After this break, I still have utterly no idea what I could have done as my pitch. Absolutely, 0 ideas.
3. I seriously dislike web design/development
Initially, I thought my dislike for this field was because I never truly dove deep into it and properly learnt the basics. So I got to learning html. Throughout the process, I found myself getting bored and losing focus. it wasn’t this bad when I tried Quantum mechanics or nuclear physics ;).
4. Too much Unreal Engine 4
Throughout mid-January to mid-February, I covered a lot of UE4 material; where I focused on learning one thing per day. My favourite Youtube tutors would have to be “Moize Opel” and “Tesla Dev”. I tried to make a basic hack and slash game.
What I Learnt:
Using Animation Blueprints
Switching cameras
Attaching meshes onto the character mesh
A combo system
Making a character switch modes and weapons
Enabling and disabling collisions on specific limbs, at set times
Working with sub-levels
Making a title screen, that selects a character and level
A.I., Blueprint only (Haven’t touch Behavioural Trees and Blackboard) Animation notifies
Overall, I could call this break productive
