Internet Safety
[PT: Internet Safety]
There's many internet safety basics that aren't followed anymore, especially on places like Tumblr and Discord. I'm going to be listing basics on how to stay safe, aswell as why you should do it, because it matters more than you think (especially if you're a minor.)
1: Your age. Your age is something you should not share online, especially as a minor. I'm aware that on places like Tumblr, Discord and other social/chatting apps, it's pretty common practice to slap your age in your bio, your name, your intro post, to click on age roles, to put it in carrds and rentries, generally to just give out your age to people. PLEASE don't do this. I know you might feel safe online, but it's horribly dangerous. "Oh, I'm in a niche community!" "I'm in a small server, it's fine!" "I don't give out my profile!" "People won't notice!" "I'm trying to find other people my age to talk to!" You cannot trust strangers on the internet with that information, especially when you're a minor. Even when you're an adult, it comes with risks. YOU DO NOT KNOW WHO'S ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE SCREEN. Yes, they might tell you they're a minor too. "Omg, I'm the same age as you!!" YOU DON'T KNOW THAT. By putting your age out there online, you're putting a huge target on your head for predators, for sick bastards who are looking to get a kick out of hurting and scaring people, for groomers, for scammers, for so many people who will hurt you with that information. It doesn't matter how niche your community is, or if you don't share your profile around. YOU ARE PUTTING YOURSELF IN DANGER. Even if you're an adult, it comes with its risks, since you're putting yourself open to sick people who will send you NSFW texts and pictures and more and defend it as "you're an adult, you can take it".
"Oh, but this server has mandatory age roles!" If you're a minor, leave the fucking server. Doesn't matter how safe that server looks, people can lie about their identity and get in, people can hide things, and you'll be targeted. You also never know when someone in that server might get their account hacked, when they might target you bc of your age.
"They sent me a picture/video/voice message of themselves, they're my age!" You don't know that, especially with the rise of AI. They might've stolen that image off the internet, taken a picture of family, or used AI to generate it. Hell, it might be one of their other victims that they're posing as. As for voice messages, same reason as above + voice filters exist.
"They video called with me!" There's AI programs out there that change your appearance and screen in real time when you're on call. They scan your face and body, line up main features with the images they've been fed, and replace your image with a completely different person. A test I've seen is asking them to hold up 3 fingers and put it infront of their face, since it fucks with the facial tracking, but even then, that tactic's probably going to have work arounds created by programmers eventually.
"They wouldn't lie to me, I've known them for ages!" Yes, they would, especially if they knew your age beforehand.
Don't give your age out willy-nilly. That's an easy way to be targeted for so much shit. I don't care if it's someone "asking for people in an age group to interact", if they're "the same age", if "i won't interact with people under/over this age", nothing. Don't give your age out, take it out of your bios. Don't put yourself in danger.
2: Links. Don't click on links if you haven't been told exactly where they lead and if you aren't 100% sure where they take you. Even if they look legit or innocent, you can never be too safe. If you're unsure about a link, i suggest sites like IPVanish, VirusTotal and Bitdefender. These are sites where you can input any URL you want, and it'll get checked for malware and suspicious activity. These are ESPECIALLY good if you're trying out piracy and if you're finding links to download shit. Don't just click click click. Check what you're doing, be safe. If you're randomly clicking on links, you can get malware, trojans, hacked, leak your IP and more. As for things like discord servers, do NOT just randomly join servers, especially if you see an account suddenly spam the servers. Even if you're aware it's a scam and you're curious, do NOT join those servers. Joining them normally immediately results in your account getting hacked. Even if the server doesn't turn out to hack your account, you're being put at risk of exposure to NSFW content, predators, generally bad people, etc. No, don't join that E-Girl hangout you desperate idiot, you're gonna get fucked over by deprived bastards.
3: Personal info. Do NOT give out personal info about yourself. That means don't give out your legal name, your address, your general location, your age, your IP, where you work, anything that can be used to identify you. Even just sending a picture of yourself or a location close to where you live somewhere and that picture is, say, on something like Facebook or Instagram, good job! You've just made it incredibly easy for people to doxx you, threaten you and more. "Ohh, but i only sent x thing in x place!" doesn't matter. Play it safe, not stupid. You're putting yourself in danger. And again, AI is scarily free for the general public to access and use. Picture of your local area can get shoved into AI scanners and get identified. Hell, look at professional Geoguessrs. They can pin a damn near exact location if they can see enough. People like that exist. Doesn't matter how silly that sounds, people like that exist and can use it for harm. Please be safe with what you post online, and if you wanna post a pic, censor or crop out identifiable features.
Another thing, if you're a minor please don't go around showing your face online. Again, AI exists. Deepfakes exist, and they're getting even easier to make. You put your face online? Okay, some sick mf now has your face and has put it into AI and made a deepfake of you. This person can then either use it for themselves, share it with other predators and such, use it as blackmail to force you to do things, and more. Be safe, and if you do god forbid get blackmailed, don't engage. You want to mass report, block, and spread their username for people to do the exact same.
4: Triggers, phobias and disorders. Again, this is something i see people freely share around online just like they do with age, and it's not a good thing to do.
Disorders are less risky and that's more up to you to share around, but be aware that sharing your disorders (especially if you have quite a few) can open you up to slander, fakeclaiming, harassment, and can make people stereotype you. It can also make you a target of things like abuse and grooming if you're a minor (especially if it's a disorder that normally arises due to trauma) because predators will be very aware that you're more vulnerable and may be easier to manipulate/abuse since it may be something that's happened to you before and that's been normalised in your mind. (I will be eventually making a post on how to spot and avoid people like this. It's not your fault if you get targeted, please don't blame yourself.) Depending on the disorder, they might also use that as a method of harming you. For example, if you're on the schizospec, someone might dm you paranoia-enducing comments, send you repeating text ("wake up" is a big one) or target your delusions and try to trigger them if they can figure out one of your more common delusions. Be safe about what you share, and make sure you're prepared for being a target of things like this.
Phobias are more rough, and it's very dependant on how intense that phobia is for you. Sharing your phobias around online opens you up to internet trolls, harassers and more who WILL then target you and send you things related to that phobia if they can. Example; if you're an arachnaphobe (intense fear of spiders) someone might look at you and dm you detailed pictures and/or videos of spiders with the intent of scaring you. I personally have seen this happen to dozens of people, and for people with more intense phobias, I've seen them get sent into genuine panic attacks over what they're sent.
Triggers are the big one. Don't share your triggers online at ALL. Please just don't. Triggers are insanely personal information that WILL fuck you up if they're used against you, and there's so many people online who would jump at the opportunity to try triggering you if you give them that information. Internet trolls, harassers, fakeclaimers, abusers/handlers (and friends of abusers/handlers), groomers and more can and will use them against you.
If you have a CDD and you see triggers as meaning front triggers, the same still applies, especially regarding emotionally immature parts, programmed parts, trauma holders, EPs in general. You don't want that info out there for people to use against you. Even when it comes to ANPs, your front triggers can and will be used against you, especially if they're abusing you or sharing info they don't want your other parts to know.
Regardless of what trigger means to you, don't share them online. I've seen so many horror stories of people having their triggers online and having them used against them.
4: Account info. Passwords, emails, pins, anything like that, just don't share them. I feel like this one's self explanatory, but it doesn't matter how much you trust someone, don't do this. It can and will be used to hack your account and either use it to harm others or just get deleted. Some account info, like login details to things like your email, can also be used to doxx you! If someone gets a hold of info, it can also be used as blackmail, which can lead to scams and extortion/sextortion. Be safe and keep it to yourself, and make sure things like passwords aren't easy to guess. If you're scared of not remembering your password, if it's safe to, write it down in an offline notes app or in a book/note irl, store it somewhere you'll remember. I note down all my passwords in Obsidian (very handy notes app, i recommend) since i personally have amnesia, and no way in hell am i remembering allat lmao.
5: Piracy. I support piracy 100%, fire at will lads. BUT you need to be extremely safe when you're pirating shit. Many piracy sites are riddled with malware, fake ADs, random popups, redirects, fake downloads and more. Steamunlocked for example! Great site, loads of pirated games for grabs, but bloody riddled with malware and malicious shit and redirects. When you're using these sites, make sure you're using an ad blocker and a vpn at all times. If you don't have access to any of those, be very careful with what you click. Check any and all buttons and make sure they're part of the website, make sure you don't get redirected to different sites, and make sure it's a secure site (you can tell by that little lock symbol in the URL, normally on the left. Locked means secure, unlocked means be really fucking careful because that bitch is not secure or confirmed to be safe.) Run any URLs through the checkers i mentioned earlier if you're not sure. For free adblockers, i suggest adguard and u-block. For free VPNs, ProtonVPN's gotta be my favourite. You can also get a ProtonVPN subscription for dirt cheap (less than £1 a month) and iirc that subscription includes its own adblocker and loads more goodies. For anime piracy, use 9anime with an adblocker. For shows/movies, Showbox and HDCinema (you can get both as apps iirc, Showbox is way better too and has a friendly UI). For games, Steamunlocked with an adblocker, and check out piracy subreddits.
If you've got any suggestions for me to add to the list, tell me and I'll add to this post! This is all for now bc I've been at this for over an hour. Remember, stay safe, and i love you all! ♡

Forward is the Only Way
There were days I felt like stopping. Like the weight was too much. Like falling would be easier than trying again.
But I keep moving.
Not because I’m always strong, but because I have reasons to stand back up. Because some people matter too much. Because giving up would mean leaving them unprotected.
So even if I stumble, even if I fall, I move forward.
Always.
