Nothing Is Too Late or Impossible
Joanna was in the bathroom, she stood in front the the mirror and stared at the small test she brought from the small box from the high shelf. Two tiny lines stared back at her, taunted her.
Two tiny pink lines could change the life forever for a woman. Pregnant. She, Joanna, was pregnant.
How could this happened? She thought she was through this, that she and Dave was having such a great friendship and now this happened?
"Urgh! Karma is really such a bitch!" she thought angrily. What was she supposed to do now? She felt angry, she wanted to take it out on someone. How the hell did this happened?
Joanna knew too well the answer. Only one thing that lead to another and she knew who to blame. But then there were this question that appeared, right after her thoughts.
This long feud since 1956...They were supposed to be friends and no longer fighting! It was supposed to be a new and good start for them. Was it spoiled now?
Dave heard his ex-wife and now friend's voice, it sounded a bit too sensual to for liking. He didn't dare to turn around, but he forced himself to do it.
Joanna smirked seductively when she stood there in a short and deep purple night gown, that barely covered her tights. Her left hands locked the door to Dave's bedroom and when he saw this he bagan to walk very slowly backwards.
This was not how this should be! They're friends! They work together now at the company, they have nothing than pure friendship and they did end the feud! He had no romantic feelings for her anymore.
Joanna just played along and walked toward Dave, she put her hands at her shoulders and slowly, but gently pushed him backwards. Dave would feel her warm breathe, that smelled of strong alcoholic liquor, touch his neck, his own sensitive spot.
Before he knew it, Dave felt the back of his legs touch the end of the bed and before he had any time to react, Joanna pushed him roughly at the bed with silk sheet and soft pillows.
Joanna dived after him and kissed him deeply on his lips. Her hand grasped around his wrists and he squirmed under her. They couldn't do this, this was wrong...
But when Joanna's toungue trace over his lips, he gave into that kiss. Realizion hit him like a light from above.
He never got over her, he had still feelings for Joanna. He still loved her and if this was right, Joanna still had feelings for him. Then he realized that there were still time. There still time to fix everything, it wasn't too late.
That hot and wet feeling of her tongue aroused him and the pleasure Joanna delivered for just him was enough for him to lose control. He grabbed her waist and flipped her over so he was on top.
What surprise him was Joanna hugged him closely after her short nightgown fell off her shoulders. Oh, just the feeling of her breasts onto his naken chest, he thought he'll never feel that again. Yes...this was where both of them belonged.
Joanna's glace became hard and stern, but yet so seductive and full of lust. She wanted him of all men out there. Him, her own ex-husband.
"Now, take off those pants. Don't say a word. Make love to me. Forget everything else. No questions. Take me..." she demanded in his ear, barely like an whisper and it was enough for Dave to burn inside. Joanna turned him on so erotically and professionally, he felt his erection hard and throbbing for her.
Dave was still in his libary. But instead for reading either books or the morning newpaper he usually did thi Saturday morning, he spent the whole morning by pacing around helplessly and at the end, he sat down and mourned.
"What have I done? This wasn't supposed to happen, Joanna is gonna kill me! Oh, what am I gonna do?"
He had been like this in days, since they both were out in town and came home hardcore drunk. He had still those flashbacks of that night in fresh memory. He had screwed up their new-found pure friendship!
He haven't heard anything on two damn weeks about the whole thing. Joanna seemed to forgot it at all while he haven't. But if he haven't heard anything, then everything would be okay then?
Suddenly he felt his stomach drop heavily. It was quiet. Dangerously quiet for his liking. Dave looked at the clock.
It was past 10 am. Usually by this time, he and Joanna would sit down in the kitchen, drinking coffee and chatting about the small recent things. But he haven't heard her voice in the hallway this morning, as he always did.
Was something wrong? It smelled danger long way and before anyone else would reacted, Dave shot off from his armchair and walked very quickly down the stairs.
Joanna was mad. She was on the warpath. She couldn't contain her anger anymore, no matter how much pity she tried to feel for Dave's sake. The hormones won over her and she was walked very fast, like a bloodthirsty tigress on her way for the next prey.
"Dave! Danm it!" she yelled, her own angry voice made a echo in the hallway and it only fed her anger more. She walked over to Dave's bedroom and slammed it open.
It was empty. No surrpise her, but alas Joanna's all sense for fair disappeared. Now things was turning seriously...
"DAVE HENDERSON! GET HERE, YOUR COWARD!" Joanna screamed on the top of her lungs. She was mad, despite the fact that she was almost dizzy of her slight headache and there were this strange cramps she had in her lower stomach.
Brian was slight stirring, he just woke up after some strange commotion. He could swear that Joanna and Dave just fought, just like back in the 50's. But that must been a bad memory, they're good friends now.
"Morning, handsome..." hummed Sadie, smiling to Brian who answered with a kiss. Sadie sighed happily and leaned her head onto Brian's warm naked chest.
Then they heard it! There were a fight going on!
BANG! Brian and Sadie jerked away from each other and sat up in their bed very startled, almost like World War 3 was going on. They quietly listened after anything that could give a clue of what was going on.
"GET BACK HERE! DAVE HENDERSON, YOU COWARD! GET BACK HERE BEFORE I RIP YOU INTO PIECES! NOW YOU'LL PAY FOR THIS!" Joanna's voice was heard, screaming like the worst dying bashee.
That was enough for Brian to react quickly. He rushed off bed, pulled on some boxer and a dark green bathrobe during seconds and in the next minute, he ran down the stairs, only to see Dave running past him in pure terror and panic.
Joanna rushed after Dave with a broomstick and tried to hit Dave with it, while Dave frightened dodged her all the time. Brian would laughed, but he didn't wanted to get slayed of Joanna on this morning.
"What the fuck have Dave done? Joanna would never act like this, she's extremely out of it!" Brian thought, his brown eyes narrowed in confusion. He chosed to ran up again to not miss out any information.
Everyone was either already awake or had woken up by the fight that sounded more like a raging thunderstorm. James was rubbing his eyes tired while Mason, who shared room with him, just stared after Dave and Joanna's chase expressionlessly.
Sky and Colton was in the open door to their room and gave each other a confused look and then watched Dave running away from Joanna and her broomstick to murder weapon.
Laura looked very worried, while Doc tried to figure out of what was going on. Brian thought that if anyone could solve this in the head, it was either him or Doc.
Sadie joined her husband, while she also stared right after the fueding friends. But now instead of friends, who knows what would become of Dave and Joanna now.
"THIS IS YOUR FAULT! YOU HEARD THAT?!" yelled Joanna and tried to hit Dave again, but he blocked her with a big decoration silver plate.
"Yeah, I understand. But--"
"YOUR FAULT! IT'S YOUR FAULT I'M PREGANT NOW!"
Wait...did he heard that right?! Joanna pregnant?
"I BEG YOUR PARDON?" yelled James, his eyes widen in surprise and suddenly Joanna stopped her fight and she paled of the thing she just revealed. Oh no...
Everyone have just heard that she, Joanna, is pregnant by Dave, her ex-husband and former friend.
Joanna's hazel eyes were quickly filled of tears, by the embarrassment, the shame and the sound of James' uncontrolled laughter.
Mason did analyze the whole situation and covered James' loud mouth with his hand. James got obviously mad and could only give an angered and muffled protest.
It was different with Joanna. This was too much for her to handle, she dropped the broomstick and sank down to the cold and grey marble floor, she broke down in tears and Dave didn't hestitate anymore and were at once by her side and hugged her.
"Oh no...Joanna, please, listen at me. There's nothing to be ashamed of. See, you're right, it is my fault and I should been more responsible of this!"
"It's your fault that I'm fat now, everyone gonna think I'm a slut and whore because of this! I always wanted a baby when we was married and now, NOW this happened! We're so good friends and now I get pregnant?!" Joanna sniffed and continued to cry, clinging onto Dave tightly.
Dave could only sit down and hug her closely while he gave Brian a helpless glance. Brian didn't know what to do in this awkward, but emotional situation.
Brian could only do a gesture to Dave to keep going. Maybe it wasn't too late after all, maybe there were still hope for Dave and Joanna.
Dave nodded in understandment and turned to Joanna. She was in her most emotional and fragile state, he was scared that Joanna might do something that might hurt both her and the baby.
"Joanna, listen at me. You're not fat and you are certainly not either a slut or a whore! This is entirely my fault and I am going to take this responsibility. Everything will be alright, I'll make sure of it. Because I still love you. After all these years, I never stopped loving you. I'll take care of you and I know, I was so wrong during our marriage. I should been more with you, I treated our marriage badly and I can understand if you don't trust me."
Joanna lifted on her head, she was touched of his words and now she understood that he meant each word by sincerity. She stared right into his soft brown eyes, those eyes that still made her heart flutter.
"I will be right here, Joanna. I will never leave you alone again. We'll make this, we'll go through this. If you want to. I'm not forcing you to anything."
Joanna pulled away from Dave's arms and ignored everyone in the hallway except Dave. Dave stood up and helped her to stand on her feets.
He swallowed nervously, was she gonna yell at him and slap him? Was she mad or was she gonna cry again? He was scared, all this was so new for him.
Joanna didn't saw him when she said that, only grasping his hand and leading him to the bedroom, where they could talk alone without any interruptions.
Everyone was gathered in the kitchen later and fully dressed. Brian didn't looked at anyone, he just stood in front of the window and stared at nothing in paticular.
James knew he did screw this up and didn't dared to open his mouth. Dave and Joanna were only ones whose wasn't there, they were still talking alone. Brian knew that they must come up with a decision of what to do now.
Suddenly, Brian turned his death glare at James, who shivered of fear. Brian wore the mixture of hatred, anger and disgust in his death glare. I it was something that Brian absolutely hated, it was when someone disrespected a woman at her most fragile state.
"Happy now, you fucking screw-up? For once, Dave and Joanna could handled this by themselves and make things better, but no! You just had to laugh in her face?! That was the most damn fucking screw-up you ever did."
In the next moment, Brian had moved right towards James and grabbed him by the shirt collar.
"Never, I repeat, Never laugh at a woman in this situation! Ya hear that?"
James was scared of his mind and just nodded in a rapid speed. He knew that Mason might be very disappointed with him that he wouldnt even save James' pityful skin.
"No, no, no no! I understand! I won't do that ever again! I'm so sorry!"
"Don't tell me you're sorry. Tell Joanna. She's the oe who might suffer now. Not to mention Dave too." Brian let go of James and he almost collapsed in a chair by Colton's side.
"Chrystler, I thought the drama would be over already! Is this karma a real bitch or what?" he muttered and sighed, he only accepted this because this might be the only chance Dave and Joanna had.
But it could screw up as well. He always knew that Joanna wanted a child when she was married with Dave, but he also knew that Dave always thought he couldn't give her any children, no matter how hard he tried.
For the first time ever, Brian silently prayed in his mind that God would have mercy on Dave and Joanna and give them a second chance, a second chance to have the love and happy ending they deserved.
Joanna sat on the end of the bed while Dave were standing up, against the hard wall behind him. It was quiet.
Dave had prepared himself for the worst fight he could ever get into. But nothing came. No insults, no hatred, no glares of disgust or anything from Joanna came out. He could barely make out a few silent sobs and sniffs.
"Dave...sit with me." she coaxed. Dave didn't waste any moment and he found himself sitting by Joanna's side. He was scaed that Joanna might explode of rage again or that she would break down in tears again. He didn't want to see her like this, in this fragile condition.
"Did you meant what you said? That night..." Joanna whispered, her eyes were filled of tears again. She turned on her head to look at Dave, those hazel eyes always made him melt.
Dave groaned out loudly when he came inside Joanna. She was holding onto his toghtly, afraid to let go. He was going to pull out when she had a death grasp around him.
"No...stay there. You feels you good." she whispered, Dave did at once melt and didn't hestitate to obey her request as the gentleman side rose from him.
Dave collapsed on top of Joanna as she began to play with his black hair. Instead for the usually backwards-combed raven hair he wore, it fell down before his eyes.
"I love you, Joanna. So much...you're one in a million...I need you back, dear Joanna..." Dave whispered tenderly. Joanna then knew that every word he said was the truth, each word from him.
"Oh, Dave..." Joanna mumbled sincerely before both of them fell asleep in that position."
"Yes...Yes, I meant that. I might been drunk, but I always meant that. I never stopped loving you, Joanna."
She was quiet again, Joanna let his words sink into her mind and the empiness she always felt after the divorce was filled of warmth.
They sat in silence and stared at each other. What did go wrong with them? They were so happy when they first met in 1948. How did they end up like this? Why did they even had such a long fued?
"Joanna...it's all my fault. How we ended up like this. Maybe if I just cared more, if I could done much more for you and not left you all alone, maybe we still could be together."
Joanna bit her lower bit and thought for a moment until she made her decision. No, it's never too late, as Sky always says. If it was something she have learned from Sky, then it was to never give up. Nothing was impossible or too late.
"Dave. I have been thinking very closely and hard about this. Now, I've decided what to do and it's the best for us."
Dave swallowed, preparing himself for the worst. Last time he heard that "for the best of us", she divorced him and burned every photo and memory they had together.
"Dave Henderson, I'm going to give you a second chance. A second chance, to see if we really can be together, after all this drama. If it works out, then I will stay with you forever and love you as the uptight, worrying and stressed businessman you are. If it doesn't works out, then we must go seperate ways, no matter how much feelings we got for each other."
Dave didn't know how to respond. A second chance? Was this really the reality? After everything that happened, he was getting a second chance to not screw this up. Now, he knew that Joanna have partly forgiven him for all his stupidity and mistakes, but also partly because she did still love him.
He leaned in to hug her closely, he didn't want to let go anymore. Everything was going to be okay again, he would fix this up. He decided to never leave her alone ever again and never hurt her.
"Thank you, Joanna. I will not screw this up, I need you back with me. I love you too much to let go. I will never hurt or leave you alone again."
Joanna hummed and closed her eyes, she have missed the warmth of him so long. Her hand traced over hiis own hand, she have forgotten how his hands felt, the sound of his beating heart inside his chest and the scent of the cologne.
Dave looked down and gave a sweet smile. "You're doing that again, Joanna."
Joanna opened her eyes in confusion, she raised a eyebrow and tried to understand what the heck Dave was talking about. "Doing what?"
"Look down." he answered. Joanna did look down and saw that her free hand was resting at her stomach, she didn't even knew that she did that with intension. It felt so comfortable.
"I think it must be my maternal instincts. Dave, I want to keep the child. Would you--"
"Yes, I would love to!" Dave responded without any doubt, he caught Joann with surprise. She always thought that Dave wasn't much to children.
"To tell the truth, I always thought that I was sterile and couldn't give any children. But now, I feel much better about it."
Joanna gave a sight laugh about it and smiled. Dave frowned of the next thing he was about to say. He must chose his words very closely, to not hurt Joanna emotionally or phychologically.
"Joanna. I'm going to call Shane later. I must ask him to take care of things during my absense."
Joanna frowned. "Absense?"
He cringed inside by the sound of her voice in disbelief. He was afraid that she would get mad if he mentioned "company".
"I'm going to apply for an maternity leave for both of us. Shane will take care of that."
Joanna gave a hard laugh in disbelief. "Shane, take care of that?"
"He might be...well, himself. But he isn't the one that would expose this or talk too much of it."
Joanna sighed softly. If Dave trusted his apprentice with this, then she had to get used of it. She wasn't fond of Shane's absurd and rotten attitude, but she knew that she must trust him if Dave did that.
"Ready to tell the others? I know they must be waiting downstairs."
Joanna nodded, but strangely enough, her body felt tired. She sighed in frustration, already this pregnancy tired her so much. Then again, she must been pregnant in two weeks, so it made sense.
"Joanna, grab onto me. I'll help you." Dave said and in a couple of minutes later, Joanna was walked gently by Dave's side. He had one arm around her waist while she had one arm around his shoulders, to support her.
Everyone was sitting now in the living room, waiting for Dave and Joanna to show up. Brian decided that it was no time for drinks, it would surely piss Dave off and it was the last thing they ever needed; Dave loosing it.
Suddenly everyone looked up when they heard a pair of footsteps walking into the room, it was Dave and Joanna. Joanna looked so tired and Dave held tightly onto her so she wouldn't collapse at the floor. Brian made his deeper thinkings, down in his inner workings. He knew that Dave would never abandon Joanna in this situation.
Dave was a very responsible, kind and righteous gentleman, he would never leave a woman like this.
Joanna cleared her voice, which bringed back Brian's attention. She looked very nervous and Brian wouldn't blame her, thank to James' screw-up earlier. "Everyone, me and Dave have something to tell. All of you knows that I'm pregnant, but it appears that I have been in this condition for the last two weeks."
Joann nudged Dave, who also cleared his voice. He was slight startled and prepared himself of the responses of what he was going to say next. "Me and Joanna are keeping the child and also, we're going back together..."
It was dead-quiet or some seconds. Then it came as an atomic bomb, the whole room was now filled of cheers and Laura ran up and carefully hugged Joanna, as they have been friends in a long time. Then Laura and Sky dragged Joanna to a comfortable armchair, so she could sit down and rest. Joanna wasn't prepared at all of this positive response, but she smiled anyways.
Now, Dave was a different story. He was in the middle of the small group of men and felt awkward. Colton had jumped onton him and cheered loudly and Brian patted him hard on his back, almost causing Dave lose his breath. Mason nodded in approval while James danced around goofingily. Doc told also Dave that they would need check up very soon and Dave nodded while he cringed inside. It seemed like everyone was happy for them, have they waited for this to happen after all?
"Now, we need to have a party for Dave and Joanna! Oh, and for the newest addition for our little family!" Colton cheered and put an arm around Sky's waist, while she blushed and facepalmed at once for her fianceé. Brian smirked.
"Now, that's some damn great idea, Colt! Drinks is on me and oh, Joanna! No drinks anymore for you! Don't wanna hurt the kid, wouldn't ya?"
Joanna nodded, as she understood that she wouldn't be able to drink anything alocoholic in the next nine months. But all this was new for her, she didn't know anything about being pregnant and all. But she calmed herself down, as Doc was a really good doctor and had been taking good care of everyone.
Three months came and gone quickly, like air and before they knew it, Joanna was already on her 20th week of pregnancy. It went too fast for Dave's liking, especially when he wasn't at the company anymore. He felt restless and Joanna did her best to keep him busy with something. It wasn't easy when Dave did finally read more than half of all the books in the library.
Joanna knew that Dave had his issues about staying active because if he didn't, Dave would feel like he didn't have a purpose of hi life. She hoped for heavens sake that their baby wouldn't be too much of Dave.
Joanna rolled playfull her eyes while she snuggled closer to Dave in the bed, while read one of those Pracordian books he got from Sky. Luckily she translated all of them last year into English and Dave became quickly fond of them. There were so much stories and tales they never heard before and all of them have such important and unforgettable life lessons about love, friendship and finding yourself.
Joanna began to understand now why Sky held onto such concepts, it was very important for a Pracordian like Sky and also the fact she must been growing up all those tales. It only made her wiser beyond her young years.
Joanna watched past Dave's reading expression to the tall window, where she had a great view of the sea and watched the sunset. It still beat everything, just lying here with Dave and get a perfect view of either the sunset or the sunrise from the bed. Dave glanced back at Joanna and smiled, he was entirely happy to have her back.
Suddenly Joanna gasped and put an hand at her pregnant stomach and Dave reacted in seconds, he shot up like a bullet and knocked off some pillows. "Joanna, whats wrong?" he asked nervously, Joanna took a couple of deep breaths and calmed herself down.
"The baby just kicked. Hard. Now that was uncomfortable along with movements, alright." Joanna remarked, she let out a sigh. Dave, however, just raised a eyebrow in confusion.
"Surely it wouldn't been so bad, Jo?"
"Then feel it yourself, crazy fool. Give me your hand." Joanna snorted, she reached to grab Dave's hand and brought it to her stomach. It was quiet for a moment or two, Dave waited concerned while Joanna was patient and braced herself.
Then he felt it, a small thump. Dave felt excitement rush inside him and he couldn't stop smiling. He looked at Joanna and saw that she wore a small genuine smile as well. Dave reluctantly moved upwards to Joanna's side while she rested her head at his shoulder and hummed softly.
"You'll never stop calling me "crazy fool", don't you?" Dave asked with a hint of amusement in his voice. Joanna opened an hazel eye and smirked.
"Never stopped. You might be a traditional, genuine and uptight gentleman, but you're still a crazy fool to me. Otherwise, I wouldn't talked to you today."
Dave cringed. "Only that's why?"
Joanna pinched his nose with her fingers playfully. "Nope. I wasn't honest this time, but this was a small punishment."
Dave chuckled. "I could get used of this, Joanna. I always thought you were continue to be mad at me, but it seems like life had something else in store. I love you..." Dave sighed and buried his face in Joanna's beautiful full-brown hair, it bore a scent of honey and it calmed his stressed emotions.
"So do I..." whispered Joanna and fell asleep in Dave's warm and protective arms.
"You don't seriously considering eating that, Jo?! Dave's gone for getting you some hot fried wings you wanted and this is what you're eating?" Brian argued and pointed at the sandwich Joanna just made.
It was an peanut butter sandwich with tomatoes and pickles. "No, I don't want it. I NEED it! Put some salt and you've got one mean sandwich!" Joanna snickered while Brian rolled his eyes and prayed that Dave would hurry so he wouldn't deal with Joanna and her pregnancy more.
He was already tired of this. Couldn't the kid finish grow and get out, so they could have their usual calm Joanna back without the insanity. He sighed roughly and poured himself a drink, he did NEEDED this one.
Suddenly they heard the front door open and close with the sound of keys and someone carrying on paper bags. Ahhh, it must be Dave, who's back from getting more food for Joanna.
"Honey, I'm back. I've got everything, or at least I hope so." Dave greeted with a concerned smile and set the shopping bags at the floor, only to walk up to Joanna to give her a small kiss.
It was late at the night and everyone slept peacefully. Dave and Joanna was especially happy with each others, they also slept peacefully and Dave, who had his arms wrapped around what was left of Joanna's waist, dreamed about either a nice baby boy or a beautiful baby girl. They still didn't know what gender their child was, since their appointment was the following morning.
Dave was slight stirring when he felt another kick from Joanna's stomach, which appearently also woke him up because his hands was placed right there. Dave mentally cringed and tried to go back to sleep when he heard suddenly that Joanna began to stir too. Great, now this woke her up too...
"Could you get me some of those chocolate-covered strawberries? Please?"
Dave sighed, gave her a positive answer and left the warm bed with Joanna. Oh, he hated these cravings, he'll never sleep in peace. Last night she wanted lemon ice-cream with chocolate sauce and before that, it was all about to get her a whole blueberry cheesecake. Dave sighed while he went down to the kitchen and searched at his secret chocolate stash after the requested chocolate-covered strawberries.
Aha, there was them! There two boxes with either milk chocolate-covered strawberries and dark chocolate-covered strawberries. Joanna didn't said any specific box, so he just grabbed the on with milk-chocolate and went back to the bedroom.
Joanna was still in the bed, she sat up and read a small novel she borrowed earlier that day from Sadie. Well, one of the few that wasn't a smutty romance novel. She looked up when Dave approached her with the milk-chocolate covered strawberries. She merely stared them when she suddenly threw a pillow with force which made Dave almost losing his balance backwards.
"Honey! What's wrong now?" Dave yelped mildly scared and surprised. Joanna glared at him and folded her arms in an agressive manner. Dave mentally cringed, how he hated her cravings so much...
"Not those! The ones with dark chocolate. Dark chocolate!" she yelled at him and in a second, Dave was running dowstairs to the kitchen again to get those with dark chocolate. He wondered how he would get any sleep when Joanna continued with her abnormal cravings.
A few more months did pass and Joanna's cravings slowly went away for a while, to Dave's big relief since he was getting no sleep with her cravings. But the other had been such a big help too.
James did sneak away Dave's debit card again and used it to get so many things to the new nursery. To explain how in earth they managed to fix a nursery in that mansion, Sky used a special magic spell that created an extra door to a room next to Dave and Joanna's room. In other words, the nursery had two doors, one in the hallway and one in Dave and Joanna's bedroom.
Joanna was in joy, since their latest appointment. They were expecting a boy and since Doc were their personal doctor, he made sure to control that Joanna was in a good health. So far have been great and Dave was in a pretty happy mood. He should be as the father to the child.
Dave and Joanna did decide to wait with their official relationship after the baby is born, it wouldn't be too good to re-new their marriage right now and they didn't want to fix their papers at the city hall. But Dave thought that was good that they waited until after the childbirth, because he wanted to give Joanna the best he had. She and their unborn baby was always going to have the best from him, if he didn't had time, then he would fix to have time for them. Surely Shane would love to help out with all those paperwork, even if he had his absurd rotten attitude, he was undeniable good at his work.
This day, Joanna and Dave was decorating the nursery. The walls were painted in a soft indigo color and the ceilings looked like a night sky with a midnight blue color and millions of tiny stars.
"Does this look good, Jo? I thought this color would fit since we're having a boy." Dave asked her, they were looking around the nursery. Brian was kind enough to help out with painting the walls, but they were lucky that he kept his mouth shut while Colton goofed around with the paint bucket and waving a painbrush in his hand and James, who rambled more about what women he had that week, just worked along Mason, who was quiet per usual.
"It looks wonderful, Dave. I must thank the boys very sincerely for this, this couldn't been too easy for them. Especially Brian, he hates painting walls so much..." Joanna trailed off when she felt the baby move around and kick at once. She winced, that was one of a kind to a combination of something that wasn't so comfortable at all. Dave seemed to sensed that she wasn't alright.
"Sweetie, you're alright? You look a bit pale..." Dave worried again for Joanna, as he watched his love of life sat down in a rocking chair and closed those tired hazel eyes of hers. Joanna have been really worned out lately and Dave knew it was because of the baby, the little bundle of joy was quite an energic one.
"Yes, I'm alright. Just tired, this baby won't stay still for long. I'll be damned if this one is gonna be just restless and active as you are, Dave." Joanna said with an amused laugh. Dave just stood there and watched her, as if there were no tomorrow.
This was an effect Joanna had on him and Dave could feel like he was under a spell. Joanna was his true love, she never failed making his heart flutter and his head spin into insanity. She was perfect in every way he could imagine. Her stunning hazel eyes, that thick brown hair of hers, falling down on her wellformed shoulders. The only difference now was that swollen stomach, which had their unborn child growing. To imagine that their love ended up to a child, only their child.
Dave felt absolutely proud and amazing, as he was father-to-be. He was needless to say, very concerned and nervous once it was due and Joanna was going into labor. That's the only thing he was scared of, the feeling of helplessness and not able to help Joanna much during childbirth. But he had decided to try be for here in every moment and every second of his life.
****
It was soon due and Joanna grew more nervous and scared for every day that passed. It was getting closer to when she was going into labor and she didn't looked forward it much.
Joanna's due was appearently in June 14th and Joanna was scared of getting outside in a sunny weather in labor and also getting a heatstroke, so she prayed that if it must be a certain unwelcomed time for labor, she prefered at the nighttime. Dave had been worrying about her more than he usually did, he constantly asked if she was feeling okay, if she needed anything or something like that.
Joanna smiled softly as she rested at the rocking chair, inside the baby nursery. She put an hand on the top of her very pregnant stomch and rubbed it, inside there was a little baby boy growing. Joanna was lost in her own thoughts, what would the baby look like and how would he be? She didn't wanted to go in labor, but she wanted to hold her baby so badly.
They had already talked about baby names and for a week ago, both Dave and Joanna found a name they got fond of. Flynn. Flynn Henderson, it had a nice ring to it. But they wanted the middle name to be special, to remind them all of something great, special and important.
Joanna didn't even flinched as she felt another baby kick. She was surely certain that this bundle of joy would be a strong and healthy boy. Her trail of deep thoughts was interrupted when she heard their bedroom door open up and Dave stuck his head inside and gave a genuine smile to his love.
"Hey, Jo. How are you? I thought that maybe you would be lonely if you stayed up here and I thought about have a afternoon snack with you down in the kitchen."
Joanna was touched of Dave's offer, as she saw that Dave had changed his ways to the better for them. He had done so much for her and he even stayed away from work, only to stay here and support her as a good husband and father-to-be. Sky have been such a big support too, everyone around here have actually helped her so much.
Dave helped Joanna to stand up from the rocking chair and then Joanna felt an unusual feeling in her lower stomach and inhaled a sharp, but quiet gasp. She felt an heavy pressure down in her lower stomach and she quickly thought about an idea to scare Dave again. This was getting more and more fun lately.
"The baby dropped." Joanna said in a casual voice and Dave almost stumbled backwards in a startled shock, fearing the worst.
"Joanna, what?!" Dave stuttered as she smiled. Such a perfect reaction and she couldn't wait to tell Brian this funny moment, he'll find this amusing for sure.
"The baby dropped." Joanna repeated. "He moved farther in my lower stomach and is in the position of childbirth." she explained to her confused love.
Dave still looked bewildered, but she saw a trace of relief and confusion in his brown eyes. "Um, good? What am I supposed to answer to that, Joanna?"
Joanna laughed lightly. "Oh, forget it. Now, I want downstairs. I want some of those chocolate crossaints to the tea." She said as she and Dave went downstairs, to rest of the strange, dysfunctional and crazy family of their friends.

Joanna was trembling scared and in pain, they certainly didn't call it a labor for nothing. She tried her hardest to breath in and out in a calm manner, but it hurts so badly! Joanna squeezed Dave's firm hand hard and groaned in pain. It wasn't exactly this she meant when she said she wanted children so badly.
"Take it easy, honey. Soon it's over and we'll have a beautiful baby." Dave tried to cheer her up. He have done already so much he could for her, Joanna found it hard to be nice to him when the contractions were only five minutes apart and then it happened she was more nasty and unpleasant than she ever been. Only afterwards, she regrets it.
The hours just went so fast and the more Joanna felt the contractions became more intense and more painful. She was crying tears of pain and Dave rubbed her shoulders, kissed her forhead, stroked her brown hair and whispered sweet things for only her.
"Dave...I'm scared." Joanna sniffed as she started to tremble after another contraction, this one was more painfuller and stronger than the previous one. It felt like she was ripped apart and the thought just scared her even more than possible.
"Schhh, don't be, honey. I'm right here, Joanna! I love you and you're doing great, don't worry."
Joanna nodded, but stopped as she felt the most painful contraction yet and she screamed out in pain. Soon there after the midwife said that it was time to deliver the baby and Dave allowed Joanna to crush his hand, if she needed to. A few moments later, Joanna was trying to bring their baby to the world.
Only two pushes later, Joanna screamed as teh baby finally left her and she collapsed in Dave's embrace, she gasped and gave at last a soft sigh as she tried to catch her breath again. Dave rubbed her shoulders and kissed her on the top of her head, all he could feel was pure happiness.
A cry of a newborn filled the bedroom, Joanna tried to sit up. But she managed with the aid of Dave, she was smiling tired after been in labor almost the whole night long.
"Congratulations, it's a boy!" declared the midwife and smiled to the brand-new parents as she handed over the small baby, wrapped in a big, soft yellow blanket. Joanna took him in her arms and held her baby close to her, tears were running down her face of happiness now when her greates wish have finally come true. A baby, a beautiful baby as she always wished to have with Dave.
Joanna sniffed and smiled softly to her baby. "Flynn, my sweet little baby. He's finally here with us, Dave." she whispered and Dave couldn't agree more.
The small baby boy wore on soft black hair, just like Dave himself. The baby had Joanna's nose, but he did resemble Dave a bit. The baby stopped crying when Joanna rocked him forth and back, he opened his eyes and stared at his parents as he never seen them before.
"Awww, he have mommy's eyes!" exclaimed Dave happily and proudly as he put his index finger in Flynn's hand and he tried to wrap his tiny fingers around it. He stared at Dave with huge hazel eyes curiously.
"Hello. Your daddy got you right there, baby." said Dave in a soft and genuine tone. Flynn yawned and fell asleep in Joanna's arms as Dave and Joanna shared a deep kiss together.

"He's so adorable! I'm a big sister, I have a little brother now!" Sky squealed delighted, playing with her new baby brother Flynn. It have gone a week since Flynn's birth and this night Dave and Joanna had appearently visitor in their bed. Dave gave a genuine smile at the sight of his little family. His wonderful wife Joanna, his adoptive daughter Sky and his newborn son Flynn. If this was a dream, then he would never wake up again.
Joanna was still resting, the childbirth had really worned her out. But she was awake and appearently, knitting something. Joanna really had gained some skills during her pregnancy, like knitting. She was finishing a small baby hat she made, it was in the colors of soft yellow and indigo blue. She couldn't wait until Flynn was finally wearing it. Speaking of which...
Flynn, dressed in a soft yellow babydresser, was quealing delighted and laughed when Sky played Peekaboo and such things with him, they looked very cute as the two siblings. Sky in her pretty sky blue nightgown and her golden brown hair in a single braid Joanna had made earlier for her.
Dave sat also up and read one of those books from the library. He briefly wished that Sky would been with them from the beginning, he always thought about how it would be to raise Sky as a tiny baby girl. Surely she must been such a cuteness to princess.
Dave put away his book and leaned back at the pillows with a soft sigh, Joanna watched her husband with a smile and thought back at the events. She was truly happy now with him, they did in the wrong way from the beginning. As Brian said, they went too fast and if they never met Colton, Brian or James and Mason, maybe this could been an nasty ending of their relationship.
"You're tired, Dave?" Joanna asked and only got an soft sigh from Dave. It seemed like he was truly tired, also exhausted and finally got to rest peacefully which he haven't done in years. Sky saw all this and decided to sleep too with her family, Joanna didn't mind and thought it only bringed them closer. The bed was so big anyways and Joanna picked up Flynn, to help him fall asleep and it was far over bedtime anyways.
Joanna rocked Flynn back and forth, in some minutes he was fast asleep. Joanna glanced back at her husband and her adoptive daughter, they were fast asleep and Joanna pulled at the cord of the lamp. She loved her new life, she wouldn't care anymore of being alone in the mansion anymore when Dave got back to work. Sky would always be here and keep her company and besides, she would be busy with Flynn. Well, Brian and Colton would be here too, that's for sure.
Tomorrow, a new day would dawn. With new hopes and dreams for everyone in the household of Henderson Mansion. Because they all had a new chance for life, without any Derek who could make them miserable ever again. But nothing was too late or impossible for them anymore.
