“Anti Social” by Sky Lexington prod. by Ayoza

It seems like people have forgotten that SpaceGhostPurrp is far from the only legendary rapper/producer to come out of Raider Klan. Artists like Key Nyata, Grandmilly, and of course, Sky Lexington, are not to be glossed over when discussing the incredible, multi-talented artists to come from BRK. “Anti Social” might be a bad example to use considering it’s produced by Ayoza (who’s also a very talented producer), but Lex’s MC skills are more than on point here, and his production should never be questioned either considering he’s got several classics under his belt, including Eddy Baker’s mixtape debut.

“TheyTrynaKillUsInMichigan” by Sky Lexington

With the Flint water crisis having gotten as bad it did, it’s as good a time as ever to give our attention to a Michigan rapper outside of Detroit. As it just so happens, one of the state’s premiere underground rappers, Sky Lexington, just dropped a project appropriately titled “TheyTrynaKillUsInMichigan”. It doesn’t tackle so many of the social issues related to the situation head on, but it does give us a perspective into the life of someone who’s been directly effected, and that’s just as important.

When you look at a lot of the leaders of successful hip-hop collectives, most have both production and rapping skills. Everyone from Father, to Key Nyata, to $uicideboy$, to Lofty305, to SpaceGhostPurrp, can produce and rap, while also running their respective groups. For this reason, I think Sky Lexington has the ability to do the same, and it helps that the g l i t c h and Fuck Cigarettes brands are already there for new members to rep.

“Steez Urkel” by Sky Lexington

During Raider Klan’s heyday, there was only one rapper/producer in the group that could rival SpaceGhostPurrp’s versatility on the mic and the boards, and that was Sky Lex. Nowadays, he may not be quite as heralded as other former members of the collective, but that’s just a matter of promotion and cosigns. Lex is still as dope as ever and I don’t see that changing for the foreseeable future.
