To get the Light from her… That was all he could do. The barrier around them wouldn’t hold for long, but he was doing his best to take it. When it was complete, he began to incite the spell to fling himself into the rift but saw his vision going white around the edges. He feels pain, shattering… bone-wrenching pain. His body jerks, much like hers did as he tries to contain the Light within. No, no… this isn’t happening… He tries, again, to start the spell but instead coughs up white specks of… blood? He looks at her horrified face, hears the cries of the Scions… of Urianger.

“…I… I have failed…” Was the last thing he could coherently say before the Light overwhelmed him, shattering his body and forming it anew. Instead of the Crystal Exarch, what hovered over them was a being full of all the Light… A Lightwarden.

“I ᴀᴍ sᴏʀʀʏ. I ᴡɪʟʟ ʀᴇᴛᴜʀɴ ᴛʜᴇ ᴡᴏʀʟᴅ ᴛᴏ ᴡʜᴇɴᴄᴇ ɪᴛ ᴄᴀᴍᴇ. I ᴡɪʟʟ ʙʀɪɴɢ ꜰᴏʀᴛʜ ᴀ ʀᴀᴘᴛᴜʀᴇ…” The Lightwarden was elegant, Miqo’te ears on his head, a toga wrapped around his body for decency, a lantern staff in his hands. Wings of swords… All that remained of him was his Allagan Red eyes, dulled and lifeless.

The Lightwarden, Rapture, then descends…

It is said that the Eighth Umbral Calamity came not from Black Rose, but from an overwhelming Light….

That's unlikely, since it's literally the entire story behind Assassin's Creed, that aliens and modern framing is part of it.. But yeah, it would be nice if it weren't

I think it worked fine in the first couple games (mainly the first one as an interesting and new idea) but it’s unnecessary, by adding the modern plot as a requirement it forces them to somehow fit their stories and characters within that frame and having to explain why we’re in that time period, rather than just having a fun time because its a cool setting. It’s the weakest part of the games, and while I enjoyed it at times, they’ve over-complicated it to the point of absurdity, and takes itself way too seriously. I would be totally fine just playing as an assassin in Italy, or London, or ancient Greece without somehow bringing the modern world into it. But that’s just my opinion, other people might like the Abstergo stuff more than I do and that’s perfectly alright
