looking back through your runaway to the stars tag, like an obsessive dolt, i've gotten to the point you talked about AI hobbies, and one you mentioned was creating programs that eat themselves (or eachother? might be misreading it). would that be like, humans having tv shows with animals fighting/eating each other, or even worse? or would that be more like robot fighting shows for them?
Oh, I think you might be interpreting the ‘programs’ I mentioned as living entities, like the AI themselves? Though I wouldn’t put it past an RttS AI to do something as weird and dubious as making up semi-living systems in its own ‘brain’ to attack each other for the fun of watching, I was thinking of them more more like elaborate coded Rube Goldberg machines, made for the sole purpose of destroying themselves in the most round-about way possible. A good modern human analog might be domino chains– hours of elaborate work made specifically to fall apart.
