“It was my first time abroad. I was twenty-one and I’d decided beforehand that I would come out there, in this new, exciting place where no one knew me, where my gayness wouldn’t have to compete with whatever ideas anyone already held about my sexuality because no one held any at all. There, I could be queer from the start, and I was.”

Review and Spoiler - #6
Skye Falling by Mia McKenzie
Skye Falling is a novel about a woman named Skye, who starts out feeling scared she’ll die alone but is too stubborn to change her routine. Until one unsuspecting day, a young girl made of Skye's donated eggs finds her. The past tries to prevent her from finding happiness in a new family, but she finds her home in the end.
I really enjoyed this book, because of the well-written character development Skye undergoes, the queer romance, and the heart-warming, humorous family they create in the resolution. I’d recommend the book to mature teenagers and older, believing they would appreciate it equally or more than I did. It contains many elements for everyone, queer love, racial justice, family, getting over traumas, and such.

Hey, I read this book last week and it rocks btw
The title character of Mia McKenzie’s novel “Skye Falling” wants to avoid chaos and human connection. Too bad for her.
