fear not friends! I Hate the heat but am used to it. it will not cool down anytime soon but I am Captain Hydrate. in fact i annoy my family and coworkers with how often i remind everyone to drink water:p

Athena: What are your favourite classic novels?Ah, this one again! Okay then, this time I’ll say… War and Peace by Leo Tolstoy, which I’m slowly making my way through, and I’m gonna cheat again and say Ovid’s Metamorphoses tales. Oh those Romans…

Hera: Who makes up your tumblr family?Well, apparently, @wormdelivre and I have adopted @hyperrasperry, so those two, and I’ve been following @a-salty-parabola and @salteverywhere for what feels like donkey’s years! Shoutouts also go to @princejackbenjamin, @mo-digence, @whoresrarelysink, @frodofeels and you, Sky - if any of you stopped appearing on my dash, it would not be the same place!

Orpheus: What’s your favourite song or type of music?I think anyone who’s followed me for any length of time knows my absolute favourite song is ‘The Burren’ by Corsaire, but as for favourite type of music, I don’t think I have a type? Lately I’ve been listening to a lot of singer/songwriter stuff - Jack Savoretti, Cloves - and I like a bit of alternative/indie - Ruelle, Florence + The Machine - but I’m also a long-time fan of EDM genres like Drum n Bass, Dubstep, and House, so… all the music! All the music is good.

(Kaldur is canonically queer in DC outside of Young Justice)

I know that Jackson Hyde, Kaldur’s comic counterpart, is canonically queer. However, despite sharing a lot of similar background and a name, Kaldur and Jackson are different characters, not just alternate versions of the same guy. 

Kaldur has a lot of unique characteristics and deeply seated issues that have always resonated with myself and many other people I know who love Young Justice. While I love Jackson, he’s never resonated with me as much as Kaldur has. And I’m not going to lie and say that, as a bisexual woman, I wouldn’t be REALLY excited about a canonically bisexual Kaldur for personal reasons. 

Additionally, Young Justice also has a much higher viewership than the readership of Jackson’s comics, and making Kaldur canonically queer in the animated series would have a significant impact on cartoon culture. Comics have had explicitly queer characters for a while now, but they’ve never been bold enough to put queer characters in the animated or cinematic universes. 

What’s important, for me, about Young Justice, the cartoon widely watched by children and young adults alike, having queer representation is that it would, for once, be non-sexualized. And we need more of that in the queer community.

this song is a jam. hadn’t realized how much I looped it, though - I was really surprised to see this was #1.

2. “Same Sea” - Lights

this was a song I wrote to for my nanowrimo this year!

3. “All I’ve Ever Known” - Eva Noblezada, Reeve Carney, Anaïs Mitchell, Hadestown Original Broadway Cast

this is pretty much the only hadestown song I listen to regularly. (it’s a bit of a wierd musical for me b/c Hades and Persephone are two of the gods i’m devoted to in my personal religious path.)

4. “La berceuse d’Ahtohallan” - Prisca Demarez

this is.... the French version of the lullaby from Frozen 2. don’t judge.

5. “Toss a Coin To Your Witcher” - Sonya Belousova, Giona Ostinelli, Joey Batey

listen, we all know this slaps.

17. “Adrift” - Heather Dale

I love Heather Dale!!!!!! and I really love singing this song, so it’s fun to just have it on loop and and continue to sing along.

99. “Young Volcanoes” - Fall Out Boy

this is on a really excellent percabeth playlist I follow, and I’ve been on a bit of a Percy Jackson kick this year.

29. what quote or inspirational setting do you think is bs? 

“Suffering makes you stronger.” No. Being depressed and suicidal from the age of ~13 to 23 did me nothing good except making sure I spend lots of money on therapy for the last 3,5 years and a huge urge to make sure none of the kids I know have to go through that.
