“Derby was made to shit in his mouth and was immediately gagged.”
That is not commentary. That is a direct quote.
In this Black History Spotlight, I break down the Thistlewood Papers, the private journals of Thomas Thistlewood, a British plantation overseer who documented slavery exactly as it was practiced, not as it has been softened or rewritten.
For 37 years, he recorded weather, crops, meals, punishments, sexual violence, and executions with the same emotionless tone. Not because he was an exception, but because this level of brutality was normal within the system.
Slavery was not servants. It was not benevolent. It was not unpaid labor.
It was a documented system of terror.
And the reason there is such a push to erase, minimize, and sanitize this history is because the truth exposes where wealth, power, and trauma actually came from.
This is not ancient history. This is recorded history.
FVCKING SAVAGES. I will never forget this shit
