With a balcony overlooking all of Kensington, an ornate tea set, and a book case to rival the Library of Alexandria, Mr Chad had a beautiful office. There was a photo frame him with a woman, her smiling at the camera, him typically stoic. He also had a picture of his sister sitting down with a pile of paperwork, a determined glint in her eye. "Kanika, I'm afraid I've received word from America that our good friend Doctor Ackermann has cancer. Perhaps terminal cancer."
Kanika has progressed quite a lot under Chad, even if she didn't want to admit it sometimes. She became faster, quicker when it came to thinking a way out and improvising, and there quite a few more weapons that she had mastered. However, she sometimes still had problems sleeping because of what she had done, and there were nights when she'd just sit on the windowsill, chainsmoking, and observing the world that seemed so oblivious to the monsters lurking in the dark. When Chad called her to his office, at first she thought he was going to scold her like he did last time when he found an ashtray hidden under her bed.
When she heard the news, however, she was heartbroken. Speechless for a few moments, in disbelief. ˝...w-what? No... No, it can't be...˝ She whispered, shaking her head. ˝...I have to see him. I have to visit him. I-I... Fuck, I have to p-pack...˝ She didn't even think about asking for a permission. This was too important to be bothered with procedures and permissions. Just too important.
