What do you think about the new information from the Spike Chunsoft panel and the fact that new story in 2x2 is called Slayhem?

To be honest, I had no idea this announcement had happened until I read your ask. (The official Japanese Spike Chunsoft and Danganronpa X accounts hadn't mentioned it yet!) So first of all, thank you for bringing it to my attention!

Danganronpa 2x2 Delay Pushes Launch to Early 2027 With First Look at New Slayhem Mode

Spike Chunsoft has announced that Danganronpa 2x2 has been delayed to early 2027.

As for the name of the new route and its UI, my first impression was basically, "Yep... it really does have that unsettling feeling." 😅

I can't remember if I ever talked about this on my blog, but last year there was an interview video filmed at Too Kyo Games where Kodaka and Koizumi, the scenario writer for the Slayhem route, briefly talked about 2x2. During that conversation, Kodaka mentioned that the new story would "be criticized in a way." The video I'm referring to is this one:

Although this interview is mostly about The Hundred Line, the segment from around 20:28 to 21:07 is about 2x2.

Because of that comment, I'd already been expecting the new story to contain something that would really shock DR fans. So when I saw that even the route selection screen already gives the new story such an ominous appearance, my reaction was basically, "Oh... so that's the direction they're going." It's hard to put into words!

Honestly, I'll be heartbroken no matter who dies, as long as it isn't Chiaki, so the new route really scares me. (Chiaki is the one exception! Even if she dies, I'm sure they'll find some interesting way to use her later anyway!)

Looking at the artwork, though, I wonder if the killing game will take place in what is almost an entirely new location. It looks like the characters might be trapped in a very confined environment, doesn't it? In the original Jabberwock Island, the Funhouse was pretty much the only place that felt that enclosed. So I'm actually a little excited about that aspect.
