“Witching hour is at 3AM. You know what else happens at 3AM?” I asked the demon, towering over him while he laid in his bed.
“Ya woke me up at 3:17 in the mornin’ to ask me that stupid question?” Mammon groaned beneath me.
“I’ll answer my question. I can’t sleep. You were my first and you should help me so…”
“Ugh. Fine. Grab me a shirt from my closet ‘n get out so I can change.”
“Yeah! I’ll take ya for a walk or somethin’! Just trust me!”
I waited outside his door, careful not to wake anyone up. The painting across the hall titled, ‘Fallen Angel’ was pretty scary at night, the moonlight shining on the angry eyes of what was supposed to be Lucifer’s face. They got him all wrong, and he hung it up in the hallway because he thought it would be funny to prank Satan saying it was a portrait of him. I personally think that’s what sparked the Anti-Lucifer League.
Mammon stumbled out the door and stood next to me, also looking at the painting.
“I wouldn’t stare at the painting for too long. Ya know, that thing cursed Luci.” He explained in a low voice.
I leaned up against his shoulder and he pulled me close to him.
“Ya trust me?” He gently whispered in my ear.
He took my hand and walked me through the house, and to the backyard. The weather was warm, with a gentle, cool breeze. It was perfect. I looked up and the stars were bright. Mammon kept pulling me through, until we reached a metal gate. He let go of my hand and started unlocking the gate. He pulled it open and motioned me to go through. When I did, I noticed a huge greenhouse looking building in the middle of the gated yard.
“Mammon! What’s all this?” I asked, turning to him. He was locking up the gate from inside and walked over to me.
“Well ya see, the gates were s’posed to be covered in rose bushes. The greenhouse is still comfortable though. Let’s go.” He dragged me into the greenhouse.
The inside was NOT a dirty greenhouse at all. It was comfy, with wooden floors and a big bed in the middle. It was all glass so you could see out, and little fairy lights and decorations were inside. I flopped onto the bed giggling. He crawled in next to me and took my hand. He started playing with my fingers while I took in the cozy atmosphere.
“Mammon! This is so amazing! Does anyone else know about it?” I turned to him.
“N-no. But don’t think you're special! I was plannin’ on tellin’ everyone once I finished it!” He turned red.
I smiled and turned to his face. He started into my eyes then pulled my face close to his. He gave me a quick kiss on the lips then let me go. He took off his shoes and I kicked mine off, and we cuddled beneath the warm blankets.
“Ya know, yer always complainin’ about not sleepin’ at night, so I thought a different atmosphere would work or whatever.” He explained.
“It is very nice, and It’s much better because you’re here.”
“Mm. I could just stay here with you all day.”
“Hehe. Just hold me for now, Mammon.”
He nuzzled his face into my neck and pulled my waist closer to his body. I played with his hair and felt myself getting drowsy. He noticed I stopped and he looked up at me.
“Yes, pretty boy?” I asked, my eyes gently closing.
“Sleepy yet?” He whispered.
I buried my face in his neck and he pulled me close. He kissed the top of my head several times and rubbed my back. As I was drifting off, I muttered I love you and could feel his giggle in his neck.
“I love ya too, (Y/N). More than Goldie, more than money, more than anything. Get yer rest now.”
And I fell asleep in my boy’s arms, under the stars. And I woke up to him still holding me tight, even in his sleep.
