Sleeps

As the first rays of the morning light filter through the dirty motel curtains, Dean looks over at his sleeping brother. He watches silently as Sam sleeps, his chest rising and falling slowly. Dean trails his fingers down Sam's arm, but the younger brother does not wake.

Dean doesn't want him to, though. He's rather happy just like this.

Sam sleeps.

He's alive.

Dean smiles and turns his body so he's the little spoon. Instinctively, Sam wraps his arms around him and pulls him close.

Dean's grateful Sam's still here after last night's hunt. He kisses Sam's hands and closes his eyes, taking a deep breath. There's plenty of time, now.

Sam sleeps.

He's alive.
