I have a huge problem where when ever I take breaks from home work I can't get myself to get back to work and it's a stressful battle to get myself to start working in the first place. I feel like the only solution is to work all the way through until it's done, but that's mentally exhausting for me and I still have to fight my wandering mind from distracting myself while I try to work. Ugh. But yeah breaks are awful I can never stick to 10 or 15min it turns into 2hours and then I cry :/
My first question is what are you doing during your breaks? It sounds like you’re taking a “sit down and do something different” kind of break instead of the primarily active breaks that I recommend. You want to get up from where you’ve been working and walk around the house, go to the kitchen for a snack, stuff like that. You don’t want to go into the room with the TV and start watching TV instead.
The other thing I would recommend is shortening your breaks to five minutes and using a timer (you may be using one already, I don’t know). Start with five minute breaks and slowly work your way up. This will help you with the active type of break you should be taking, because it can be difficult to find enough activity to do at first to fill a whole 10 minutes.
I don’t know all of your circumstances; if I knew more I could give more specific advice, but hopefully this will get you started.
