Someone just liked her post out of the blue the other day, so I have been thinking about her again and I love her so much, she is my baby.

Basically, Ren has had her whole future laid out in front of her- I constantly mess with how I want her aging to work but either way, we all know everyone around her has planned out her life- and she’s like, “Mmmmm, fuck that.”

She plans so much out and she uses every trick she knows to avoid detection. (I’m pretty sure I made it so that Alice has headaches and trouble seeing her future, like in BD.)

She’s like, “LOL, where better to hide than not just in California but also where there’s a shit ton of supernatural creatures? My family would never think to look there because it’s so obvious while also being so-not obvious???”

And I constantly go back and forth with what kind of shenanigans her and the pack get up to there but she and Stiles are OTP. I love them. Stiles is like, “Me? Me???? Me over Buff Wolf Man and Hybrid Vampire Man?”

Ren is my fave though. She’s witty and funny and so full of life and she loves human food and everyone thinks her shininess comes from her just being a Hoe for Highlighter and she’s everything to me.

okay you've convinced me and now I'm here for advice: should i watch 2003 fma or brotherhood first? or just brotherhood? i ask cos my no-blacklisting-ass has seen many differing opinions (and sorry if you've already expressed one but my memory is swiss cheese)

okay. alright. i have feelings about this but you’re free to ignore them if you want to and do what you want. BUT i’m going to advise you to watch it the way i was told to watch it. what you have to understand is this:

1. brotherhood is an objectively better show

2. that doesn’t mean 03 is a bad show and you shouldn’t sleep on it

3. the only way you’re probably going to enjoy both is if you start with 03

i will say this until my dying day, 03 is still a good show despite brotherhood being better. what you have to understand about 03 is that their animation budget was lower so it looks worse and at the time they only had about half the manga to work with but decided to go off script and do their own thing instead of including endless filler. so it has a different plot, but that doesn’t mean the plot is bad.

i think the creators of brotherhood basically assumed you’d watched 03 first (03 was VERY popular at the time) because there are parts of storylines they both cover that 03 goes into detail on that brotherhood kind of brushes over. and like, okay, the ending of brotherhood is objectively better, but 03′s plot is still good. like, they were basically writing fanfic after like halfway through, but it’s an interesting and fun plot that connects characters together in ways brotherhood doesn’t. it’s a good show, hell, it’s a great show. it’s better than a lot of animes. there’s a reason that to this day some og fans prefer 03, and it’s not just nostalgia. it just is criticized today for not being what came after it when what came after it was playing with a better hand.

anyway, end of rant. if you DO decide to start with brotherhood, which i wouldn’t even blame you for because hell, i said brotherhood is objectively better so my advice does sound pretty reductive, if you decide to watch 03 after just please go into it with an open mind knowing that it’s not brotherhood and it’s not trying to be brotherhood. i mean i obvi make comparisons between the two because it’s hard not to but what i’m saying is don’t compare the plot and quality of the two and you’ll enjoy 03 a whole lot more.

#also don't forget to watch conqueror of shamballa after you finish the show bc that's the only way it's coherent #it's not on any streaming services it's ONLY on youtube do NOT ask me why #like it ties up loose ends the movie isn't perfect bc they had to cram like a season into a short movie #but i digress #fma #also even tho brotherhood is better i honestly can't choose between the two. i honestly really love both stories #you just have to separate them and know they're doing different things. i love them both equally and that is not a cop out #sleepyschmoop #inquiries #*conqueror of shamballa after 03 i mean. it's basically the end but they had to rush production so they could start on brotherhood i think

(Regarding fma lol) ashdgd it's on my to watch list but i never have the motivation to start new things. Also when i was like 7/8 the dog/girl/nightmare ep from the 03 series was on after inuyasha and it Traumatized me (it was a lot) but i love what ive heard and seen of the characters and how alchemy works, also all the fic/art is amazing 😭 also i dont have any tags on my blacklist cos i dont like feeling left out, even from awful stuff (not that fma is awful lol)

yeah nina tucker absolutely traumatized an entire generation and Genuinely cannot imagine going into it that young because i remember flipping tf out when i watched it and i thiiiiiink i was at least 13. sorry that was ur intro to it bro

but yeah if it’s on your to watch list there’s very few pieces of media i like, umbrella recommend to people outright. this isn’t necessarily the same as me liveblogging any old thing. like i liveblogged tma but i don’t think i’d umbrella recommend it to people because some people just aren’t into horror. fma is one of those things i’d probably encourage anyone to at least try out regardless of personal taste just because it’s that good. the characters are awesome, like both main and side characters are pretty much all fleshed out and you have a lot of really interesting and diverse female characters probably at least partially because the author of the manga is a woman who is Very Cool, and race relations play a part in one of the main plotlines of the show’s universe as well as a side plot (like not EXACTLY bc this doesn’t take place in our world but there’s characters who are coded as different races and that coding matters in the world of the show, if that makes sense, which is more than you can say for most anime - hell, most media - from the mid 2000s). and on top of that you have this really interesting immersive universe that starts off as interesting because whee fun magic and worldbuilding but then evolves into a narrative that delves into grey morality and the evils of genocide and dictatorships. anyway sorry for ranting i love it a whole lot and if you haven’t seen it you should give it a try
