The only few retellings of the "The Fortification of Asgard/The Horse myth" I'll accept is if it has psychological horror esque themes (but still deals with the themes of the myth in a respectful way).
For example , make it to where even after Sleipnir is born, Loki is still on edge about the whole situation. Whenever they look into the woods, they swear, they can see the outline of Svadilfari or hear the sounds of hooves and the whinny of a horse outside their window.
alternatively, Loki begins to see a strange man wandering around Asgard. But whenever Loki is noticed by this man ,said man will just stare at her. Doesn't speak or anything, just stares until Loki leaves. This terrifies him even more because something about the man feels uncomfortably familiar. Causing Loki to be unable to tell reality from hallucination and whether or not the man is connected to Svadilfari in any way.
