Eivor: I miss my father
Basim: I was a father once
Eivor: you were?
Basim: *nods* well more like a mother...
Eivor: how were you a mother?
Basim: I seduced a horse once, and out popped an eight-legged grey foal—
Eivor: *chokes on her bottle of mead*

Okey, what with people that look okey seeing loki get rape while they so angry see Medusa get rape?
I meant for context , loki and Medusa got rape, they got forced. Yet only Medusa got sympathy and while loki, they just shrugged or mocked.
You know this is actually how real life seeing rape, if women get rape they got sympathy but if men get rape people just shrugged or worse getting insult.
I understand that if women get rape, they get pregnant and that is gonna be problem but still men get tape is not something people should brush off . Rape is real trauma for men and women, it's not something you can brush off
And this is why men always hide they feeling , because others seeing them, they can't be victim
People barely ever believe woman when this happens, but men who get raped?
Yeah ^^' Very rarely do they get sympathy, because of course, "men are supposed to be strong" and the idea that they'd be forced by WOMEN... ^^' Oh dear ^^'
Bu then, that's forgetting that Loki was already seen as "Argr" by Aesir standards. And remember the Ardre images in Sweden (8th century): Loki is wearing a dress, most likely in her female form.
Loki is male. Loki is female. Loki is just Loki.
I think that mostly, Loki's rape is overlooked because Loki is queer. They are the "weird" one. They lay with men and women, and birth babies? So of course, in people's mind, the horse thing seems just another of Loki's "sexual deviance" (and they'll use it again and again to make fun of him or prove a point).
However, when you read the myths a little bit closer, you realize how Loki's mind works. He's brilliant, but he has the WORST luck with his plans. Please remember how he got his lips sewed by the Black elves Eitri and Brokkr. THAT WAS NOT HIS PLAN EITHER.
So when you think of the story with the builder, we must remember what was his actual plan. Only people with a very twisted mind think that he wanted to have sex with the horse. Nope. He just wanted him distracted. But Loki , well... he's a bit too cocky and overconfident, isn't he? He thinks his plan is perfect and that the horse will just gallop after him but will never catch up... just like he thought the Black Elves would never finish their gifts ^^'
And that's where Loki's luck runs out and the horror begins.
People are mostly blinded by their own misconceptions about Loki and their prejudices. In their minds, Loki is the type of person who would enjoy that kind of thing... And that's exactly the type of misconceptions a certain type of straight people have against queer people, don't they?
The problem is that story has been told and retold by too many straight people, I guess XD
And the fact that so many writers are nowadays twisting this story into a romance? Burgess litteraly made Svadilfari Loki's FIRST LOVE (while Sigyn got only Loki's hate ^^').
WHY ARE YOU TURNING RAPE STORIES INTO ROMANCES. COME ON. That doesn't make them better. You're just fooling yourselves ^^'
(What's even more disgusting is that Burgess turned a r*pe story into a romance, and ADDED a rape (Thor/Angrboda) where there was NONE).
And look at the family trees for Loki's family. More and more, I'm seeing Sigyn, Vali & Narvi ERASED while Svadilfari gets to be in it ^^'
Because OF COURSE, in this type of people's mind, Loki would not care for his wife. Loki would crave this type of thing... ^^'
The problem is that people DO NOT UNDERSTAND Loki. Retellers feed them a certain version of the character (evil, twisted, psychopathic, baby-killing monster), and since people are not doing their own research (or only read a few books that are not written by scholars), well, they keep this image of him and when Svadilfari is mentioned, they actually believe Loki consented to this. That it was part of his plan.
But the truth is much darker.
And maybe they're just not ready to accept it.
Even though it explains why Loki let Odin take Sleipnir away.
NOT because he did not love his little foal. I'm sure he did.
But because of what had happened, just looking at him after that was too painful. Loki needed time, but meanwhile, Sleipnir grew up away from his siblings and his mother, and became Odin's stallion.
This makes me wonder how Sleipnir felt about his siblings being bonded, or the murder of Vali & Narvi. And during Ragnarok, when Odin ordered him to charge against his mother's army... Did he ever forgive her? Try to understand her? Or had Odin completely brainwashed him at this point?
All of Loki’s children from Oldest to youngest
Some notes : Svilla named is a combination of the Icelandic word for Evil (illt) and the Icelandic word for black (Svartur). Since Sigyn died by being crushed to death by jormungandr’s tail, her body was so badly damaged that she needed hundred of stitches to look somewhat normal, so that’s why she looks like that in helheim.
This took like to make holy shit
What your myth! Loki ship says about you:
⚠ Just a heads up! I am doing this for fun and to see if I understand our community right! I'm by no means trying to hate on anyone who actually ship these things! Ships have just..always been so interesting to me, and I thought it would be fun. Did I forget someone? Please let me know! ^^
...But Loki had such dealings with Svadilfari, that somewhat later he gave birth to a foal, which was gray and had eight feet; and this horse is the best among gods and men.
-Gylfaginning
