Dudes. This makes me so happy. I had the privilege of working with both of these dolphins when they were in different habitats. Naia is a great mama that I worked with in Dolphin Nursery. She’s got big ol’ bug eyes and loves being the center of attention. CJ is a gorgeous and unusual hybrid (Delphinus capensis x Tursiops truncatus). He (and his half-sister Bullet in California) were fathered by a very ambitious rescued common dolphin named Cooper back in the early ‘90s. I took these photos back in January shortly after they’d both moved to the Key West Dolphin Cove. It is SO GREAT to see two fabulous and enthusiastic interaction animals doing their thing and it was extra awesome that they were paired up. I have no idea who the people are (except for the trainer), but they had a great time!
