#slipstream convoy

I feel that there is a huge missed storytelling potential in hyperspace caravans or convoys. Like a system of "warp" travel that is exponentially more energy intensive the bigger the ship but that creates enough of a slipstream effect that a large enough group can bring non hyperdrive equipped ships in their wake. (For a price, or for protection?)
