Made my writing goal for the day! Still trying to convert bad words into good words. It’s slow going, but I made some progress:
Garrus turned the snapshot over again in his hands, examining the man in the photograph more closely. He had thick brown hair, a crooked, slightly gap toothed grin, and light-colored eyes that might have been either blue or gray. On a whim, he brought up his omni-tool, keying through to the scans he’d taken of the victim’s body. Holding out the photo, he compared it to the battered corpse displayed on the screen.
The scans indicated that the body had belonged to a human male in his mid fifties. By contrast, the human in the photo didn’t look much past his late twenties. Still, it was clearly an old picture. Garrus looked back to the dead man on his screen, frowning as he tried to pick out identifying details. The corpse had tufts of dark hair matted down in a clotted mess against his skull, but that was where any resemblence ended. With a sigh, Garrus closed out of the scans. Anything more definite would have to wait until the Lab got around to reconstructing a physical profile.
He started to put the photo back in the pile, then hesitated, glancing at the papers that covered nearly every available surface. It would take them days to scan everything.
“Is this the best use of our time?” he asked, slipping the photo into his pocket. “Why not just have Networking hack in and process the contents of his computer?”
Hiks made an irritated noise in the back of his throat. “Certainly,” he said, narrowing his eyes down at the page he held. “Let me know when you find one.”
