As you may already know, a person with ASD can be auditory sensitive.

Of all my boys, Abel David is my most sensitive. A way to show you how he feel's is through his toys. He took his baby brother panda toy and put his noise cancellation headphones covering the panda's ears.

Being non-verbal doesn't mean he doesn't have anything to say and feelings to express.

The face I make when I realize I can send my six year old to ask a random child her age at the park because I want to see if the kid's speech sound errors are developmentally appropriate.

Why, yes, I will give my toddler pop as long as she produces her final consonant. Anything to improve her speech (at least for this afternoon).

Two-year-old

My youngest has her 'sh' sound figured out. Anytime the six-year-old gets on her case Vivi just holds her finger up and says, "Shhhh." Now if we could work on some more of those fricative or affricate sounds.....everything else is d, d, d.

This is how I felt all afternoon trying to take articulation data for progress reports while having plugged ears (crummy Texas allergies).
