[The Keihancarl Diaries: April 2, 2022]

It’s nice to be back for the first time since the pandemic. Anyway, let’s begin.

I decided to go to my usual hangout spot near my high school, but the milk tea/coffee shop I frequented, Jits Cafe, is closed at the moment. But then, I saw a new coffee shop right beside it, the Daily Grind Cafe DGC. I decided to try it out.

It was indeed a coffee shop, and it mostly features coffee drinks. Looks like I’ve found a new place to chill.

Without any further ado, I ordered a strawberry cheesecake Frappuccino, obviously a non-coffee drink. No coffee drinks for now, since I had it for a month (four weeks of various Javakulas from Seattle’s Best Coffee, delivered via a food delivery app) and I’m starting to feel jittery from too much sugar (the last one I had, the salted caramel Javakula, is incredibly too sweet) and caffeine. Anyway, I decided to stay for a moment while sipping my drink and writing this post.

I couldn’t help but take a good look at the place. I love the ambiance, the smell of brewed coffee, and their Frappuccino (I might want to try some of their coffee drinks next time). I decided to finish my drink within an hour, though, as I’m heading to the Fairview malls next to do some shopping. I also find another coffee shop near my high school as well (Drip’n Cafe), where the internet café/clinic/salon used to be.

I only visited SM Fairview (where I bought a new umbrella, the same one I bought years ago) and Fairview Terraces. As usual, I checked some of the shops in these malls. Well, I didn’t find any interesting (second-hand) manga books in Booksale branches in both malls, and I wasn’t able to find a certain pair of cool socks (the embroidered ninja socks from Iconic), though I’ve already bought a pair last Christmas and was looking to buy a second pair.

Later on, I passed by a Greenwich branch in Fairview Terraces, initially thinking of having a meal of seafood pasta (the creamy shrimp spaghetti), but I’ll probably eat dinner at home anyway so I passed on it for now. Maybe next time, I guess, though it’s just a limited time offer.

I decided to go home earlier than usual, since I couldn’t really enjoy doing what I used to, you know, walking past the shops and checking every part of the mall area, but I guess it’s because we’re still in the “new normal” part of the pandemic. Besides, I was having anxiety issues at the time (even before leaving the house), though that kind of dissipated after reaching the house.

The new coffee shops near my high school gives me more reason to visit the area often (like I did pre-pandemic), and that alone makes me happy. And so I’m looking forward to visit the other one very soon.

I might not be able to frequent the area more often in the meantime, as we are still in the “new normal” stage. Don’t worry, I might resume my weekend rituals once everything goes back to normal. Until then, please stay safe!

Have you ever wondered when popcorn and nitrogen comes together? THIS IS AN AWESOME IDEA EVER SO FAR. I love it when a restaurant or cafe little or huge, comes up with muted food goodies! Espcially this one ❤️ The flavor I tasted here is Green Mango on Stick with Nitrogen as coating, I guess? What is most important is that it is SO DELICIOUS AND PERFECT THIS SUMMER 😎😘 Better than ice cream!

SM Fairview welcomes the Yuletide season with a Grand Christmas launch at The Atrium with Mickey Mouse Clubhouse.    The grand festivity was paraded with a Mickey Mouse Clubhouse replica at the center of The Atrium and beside it was the stage  with one giant big LED screen in the middle  with big Christmas Tree on one side and big design  of a fireplace on the other side.

11/9/14 FX Ride Gone Wrong

I was assigned the closing shift that day which was from 2pm-11pm. And because it was a Sunday, we closed late. After our shift I went straight to the terminal going to SM Fairview. I was the only passenger that time. 20 minutes have passed and I'm still the only passenger. I wanted to go home so bad that I opted to ride the fx that would go to Espana. I figured that if I went there, I would have high chances of getting an fx to my destination.

The fx driver that time told me to ride in the front seat and so I did. The vehicle was full and so we went on. As we went further, the passengers decreased. Until I was the only one left. The driver told me before that he would drop me at Delta, but then he told me that he could drop me at Philcoa (which was 30 mins away from SM Fairview) if I want. I said "okay" without even hesitating. Which was wrong. 

He then proceeded to turn the lights off inside the vehicle. PUVs should always have their light on but I guess since he wasn't receiving any passengers, he decided it was best to do that. So I just shrugged that off. But I began to feel nervous at that point. He initiated some small talk about how my everyday commute was so tiring because I was going from north to south and vice versa. But then he asked me a question that was really weird. "Is it obvious that I had a drink? No, right?"  I looked at him and said no. My heart again began to race. Along Quezon Ave we saw Taxi drivers picking up prostitutes and he also made a remark about that. It was so sketchy at that point, he even introduced himself and shook my hand. Luckily, he kept his word and dropped me where he said he would. And then I rode the bus from there.

So yes, nothing really happened. Which is great obviously. But what I felt afterwards made me cry. I felt fear. Pure fear. A lot of things were going inside my head when I was at the fx;

Is he going to rape me?

I should have stuck with the first fx instead

Oh my god this is the first time I'm going to have to stab someone (because I was armed with a knife)

What if he is going to rape me?

I should stab him in his neck

Maybe he's really a nice guy 

But what if he's not?!

I'm always being fetched by my uncle at the convenience store so I wouldn't take a tricycle anymore. And when I was at the car, I just broke down. I was crying, but I didn't really tell him anything. I just told him that I was alone with the fx driver and I was really scared. He told me that I  should have called. But that's it, I could call him or anyone but what would that really do? Would that be of great help? Because in the end I'm the one who's alone with that person. He wouldn't be able to help me physically if something does happen. And that's what added to my fear. For the first time in my years of commuting that I felt such fear. Sometimes I would go home at around 3 or 4am and although I was a little scared, I could just handle myself and relied on my confidence. But this one was different, I was vulnerable. And so I cried myself to sleep that night

Maybe he was a person with good intentions and maybe I'm just overthinking. But in today's world, there would not be a day where you didn't hear someone that was raped by someone on the news. 

On the bright side, I'm still alive. And I was still able to go to work the next day. Thank God.

Kung bakit buo na ang araw ko?

Nagmeet lang naman kasi kami nung mga kaklase ko nung elem. (Oo na. Sila yung dalawa kong crush. Hahahaha) Kasi naman eh. Pare-pareho kasi kaming walang magawa, kaya pinlano namin magkita ng 11am para sabay sabay na kami maglunch, na naging 12. Haha. Usapan namin ni rj, sa Jollibee sa may Legarda! Aba puta, pagdating ko dun, andun na daw sya eh wala naman! Hahaha. Yun pala nandun sya sa kabilang Jollibee! 😂 Nung nagkita na kami, pinuntahan namin si Jamil sa may dorm ni ate nya.

Nung kumpleto na kami, ang usapan dun lang kami sa SM Manila. Kasi may sakayan din sa Espana papunta dun. Si jamil lang nakakaalam kung paano papuntang SM eh. Edi patawid na kami dun sa kabilang kalsada kasi dun daw yung sakayan. Lintik na jamil! Hindi pa kami nakakatawid, nakakita ng bus na padaan! Eh mabagal pa kasi nga naghahanap ng pasahero, edi ang jamil, umambang pasakay na agad habang tinatanong palang nya kung dadaan ng SM Manila yun, edi hindi sila nagkaintindihan nung konduktor! Kami naman ni rj, sumunod naman! Eh nakasakay na si jamil eh! Pag-upo namin, tinanong ko sya, “Sigurado ka ba dito?” Sabi nya, “Ewan ko, umoo si kuya eh. Hahaha” Tas sabi ni rj, “Pre, SM Fairview ata yung nakalagay sa harap ay. Haha!” Edi nagtatalo kami, sabi ko “Bat kasi dito pa tayo sumakay, eh akala ko ba sabi mo jeep lang? HAHA!” “Inisip ko baka dadaan ng SM eh, mainit sa jeep, at least eto may aircon. Hahaha” Kundi ba naman mga isa’t kalahating kupal! 😂 Hanggang sa dumaan na samin yung konduktor na namimigay ng ticket, edi nagtuturuan kami kung sino magtatanong. Haha! Tapos sabi ni rj, “Kuya, saang SM ho ba dadaan to?” “SM Fairview” Nagkatinginan kaming tatlo eh! Natatawa nalang sa katangahan. Haha! “Magkano ho hanggang dun?” “45” O.o Tangina talaga, tawa kami ng tawa! Hahaha. Pero wala namang nagsuggest na bumaba nalang kami! 😂

Hindi naman kasi namin alam na sobrang layo pala, feeling ko inabot kami ng isang oras sa byahe eh. Wala na kaming nagawa. Haha. Tapos lecheng konduktor, bigla nalang sinabi, “Ate pahiram ho muna nung ticket nyo, ililipat ko nalang kayo ng bus.” ??? Hindi namin alam kung bakit! Edi huminto, binaba kami, tas wala syang maparang bus, kaya FX nalang daw. Puta hindi na nga kami kasya, pinilit pa kaming sumakay, edi sakay naman kami. Para tuloy kaming sardinas dun sa likod ng FX. 😑

Nung natanaw ko talaga yung SM Fairview, gusto kong mapasayaw sa saya eh! Jusko, sa lahat ng yun, nakarating pa rin kami! Hahaha. Eh sakto nandun yung isa pa naming kaklase dati, hinanap pa namin ng matagal-tagal sa Supermarket. Tapos wala din, hug lang, kwento konte, babay na. Haha! Tapos kumain muna kami sa food court, kasi dun lang may lugaw eh. Na yun lang ang kaya kong kainin. Na halos isuka ko sa sobrang umay. 😑

Tapos punta kaming watsons na dahilan ng pagpunta talaga namin ng SM, tapos hindi ko rin naman binili yung pinunta ko dun. Hahaha! Tapos wala na kaming magawaaaa! So naisip namin, uwi na kami. Haha! Dun nalang kami sa SM na dapat na pinuntahan namin. Pero hindi na kami nagbus o nag-FX, nadala na kami. Nagtaxi naman kami ngayon! Puta, de tinanong namin, mga magkano kaya aabutin hanggang UST. Sabi nung driver, mga 200 daw siguro, pero depende pa rin sa metro. Eh sa P40 kasi nagsisimula magbilang yun. Tumuloy naman kami kahit nauubos na dala kong pera. Sabi ni rj, basta 100 na daw sa kanya. Lecheng taxi, hindi pa kami nakakalayo, nasa 100 na! Nashock kaming lahat eh. Haha! Wala ng atrasan eh. Ayun, pagdating naming UST, P292! 😪 Syempre sakin yung 92, la na kong pera eh. Haha! Ayun, bagsak namin sa dorm ni ate nya, di na kami tumuloy sa SM Manila. Masyado na kaming nawindang sa lahat ng nangyare! Haha! Naki-cr at naki-wifi nalang ako. 😂

Kwentuhan lang, hindi ko talaga mapigilan hindi matawa pag nag-uusap sila eh, puro lokohan kasi eh! Hahaha. Ako taga-tawa. Realtalk, tawa lang ako ng tawa. 😂 Tapos pgdting ng 4:30, umalis na rin kami ni rj, nagpaiwan na si jamil. Nagtrike nalang kami tas hinatid nya na ko sa dorm, para daw makita nya na rin kung saan.

Ayun, after 2 hrs, magkakatext na kami, pare-pareho na naman kaming inip na inip sa mga dorm namin. Haha. Nganga eh. Ako walang kasama, sila walang makausap. Kaawa-awa.

So yun lang, ang saya lang talaga. Kahit ubos ang pera naming tatlo. 😂
