Oh, my fav ep is uuuuup!

Ok I have so many fav eps but SM099 is very high up, I swear I rewatched the ep for like, dozen times within 3 days.

Alright I’m still not thrilled about another Eevee in the spotlight or a favourite character of mine getting one rather than something more interesting but I admit I like Nagisa a lot and everything about this episode was rad. Nagisa and Ashimari are amazing together. (by the way the Dive Ball is my 2nd favourite alternate Pokeball design after Lure Ball) Also, even though I had seen this look many times in random pictures I only just now realized the haircut Suiren gave to Nagisa matches her own.

kinda wanna make a gifset about the parallels between nagisa the eevee and puka the pikachu... i doubt it was intentional, but i think it’s kinda cool how they both came ‘from the sea’ before meeting their partners.

i’ve always said that i think puka is an alolan pikachu, and last night @jessicarocket proposed a theory that nagisa is going to eventually evolve into gen 8′s eeveelution. i’m obsessed with that now. i REALLY want to believe it originally came from the new region.

I honestly think it's great how in hindsight, Lana makes sense, since so many of the Eevee scenes have involved it loving and being at home in and around the ocean. And like, of course an ocean-loving mon is going to Lana, who loves the sea, too. I especially love that Lana gave it a name that reflects its love of the ocean. And Ashimari already cares so much about Eevee and protected it like an older sibling, so I think it's a great match.

Is there a reason why Lana nicknamed Eevee and not Popplio? Seems odd/off to me. I'm not sure how to explain it in words? But it's like someone coloring a picture and leaving part of it blank and you want them to finish the rest of it so badly. DHBCHJJ. .. I hope that makes sense?? I guess it's my OCD. Oof.

I admit, it caught me by surprise that Suiren named the Eevee! But I think the point is, Suiren noticed how much Eevee loves the ocean, and felt that it’d be nice for it to have a name that’d describe its love for it. Ashimari already has a name related to water, being a water type after all :)

Anyway that was my in-universe answer, now from writing perspective and when we consider Eevee’s here to promo Let’s Go a bit, it’s also marketing about how Eevee’s your partner than can have a name. Ofc this is an old feature, but naming your Eevee makes it feel more personal, more of your own. So, there’s that. They could be doing lots of interesting stuff with Suiren and Nagisa now!
