Chicago: Small Cheval

“The Best Burger in the Nation” as proclaimed by The Food Network. In all of my stops to Chicago I never took the opportunity to grab a burger at Au Cheval and I was reminded by anyone that’s ever consumed one how big of a mistake that is. Small Cheval opened recently and it’s a stripped down version of its older brother, but the essentials are still there: Burgers, fries, and beer. What a coincidence, that’s all I was looking for.
Burger and Fries
A purist’s burger. Solid, structural potato bun. Aged beef blend, ooze of American cheese, and a bag of perfect twice-fried french fries. No wait, no stupid fried mushrooms, no need for any of that garbage. Just a straight forward awesome burger with a side of fries and a cold beer.
Conclusion Must return. Every time.
