If you ever wanted to know how a Moon Dreamer’s head works, here you go.
I found Sparky Dreamer in a thrift store grab bag, as she is here, only her head didn’t fall off until I took her out of the bag, at home. The thinner bit of the peg that allows her head to turn was pretty cleanly cracked, and just a tiny bit of plastic had been holding her on. But being a clean break, it glued back together easily. Well, once I got the peg back out of her head, which required a slice with a razor blade in the back of her head vinyl, and a set of pliers to spread it open wide enough for the peg to fall out. That was not so easy.
But, the slice (just one, straight line, about halfway to her hairline) won’t be seen under her hair, and while her head is now secure again and turns just fine, the slice also takes just a little bit of friction and tension off of the re-glued plug, so hopefully it won’t be stressed into breaking again. Her head never tilted in the first place, so no articulation loss there. And, of course, I know to be careful with her, which will help, too.
Sparky had absolutely nothing original with her in the bag, so I’ll need to find or make her a new jumpsuit, somehow. If I find her some new star glasses, great, but I was never really fond of their shape, so I may just see if MyScene or Monster High glasses are big enough to fit her noggin. I found two of this dress at the outlet, and it turns out that Chelsea clothes fit Moon Dreamers pretty well, in a pinch. I haven’t tried any Chelsea shoes yet, but it looks like those might work. If anything’s going to be amiss, it’ll likely be that Sparky’s feet are just slightly longer, so sandals might be the best bet, if that’s the case.
