Small lake, big catch

As I wrote in a previous blog, I've been doing a fair amount of fishing out on the big lake, but not much catching.

On Thursday my brother, who has a place near Charlevoix, took me out on his small lake (about 80 acres, with a maximum depth of 14 feet) to fish for bluegills.

The set-up was as simple as it gets: a chunk of nightcrawler on a small hook and a bobber). The action was more than lively. In less than two hours we caught about 40 blue gills, 20 of which were genuine keepers.

Fish fry tonight.
