Whether its unfortunate or fortunate, my ship out of Kul’Tiras was delayed by five days. Apparently, it is one of the unluckiest ships that sails the seas as not only did it encounter pirates as it sailed south from Northrend I think is what the captain told me, but they also struck a seamount, or an underwater mountain, as they rounded the outskirts of Tol Barad. It makes me nervous about the upcoming trip considering the charts the captain is following will take us to Kalimdor, but has us going closer than I personally feel comfortable with to the Maelstrom. But this is why I am an engineer and not a navigator on a ship, or hell even a sailor in general, my worries and fears may be placed in nothing as I hope this crew and ship have sailed these routes enough to know how to try and achieve a smooth as possible trip. I have a feeling an ungodly amount of luck will be involved too which terrifies me.
On a lighter note, while the ship was in dry dock being repaired, I decided to take advantage of a few more days to explore some more of Kul’Tiras, or at least what distance I could safely travel and still ensure I had enough time to get back to Port when the ship was ready to sail again. I took some time to talk to the locals about some interesting places to explore and I struck up a conversation with a trader from the Stormsong Valley which proved quite fruitful. In addition to sightseeing the rolling hills of the valley, they recommended an apiary in the southeast portion of the region that was world famous for the honey it produced. There was also a meadery that was on grounds as well that made use of said honey for the production of sweet mead. Truth be told, it was worth the extra coin I spent to take a Gryphon to cut down on travel time and he aerial views of the Valley were breathtaking and will always be reserved in my memory. The traders recommendations were not unfounded by any means. The honey was sweet and succulent and made just about everything I was offered to put it on other worldly. I told myself after Booty Bay I would cut back on drinking for the sake of my past of tendencies to over indulge, but I thought it rude not to try the local mead which was so sweet and potent I was thankful the owners of the farm were smart enough about their craft that they had a small bunkhouse on the apiary grounds. Its up in the air if the hangover I had the next morning was worth it or not. Deep down I was a tiny bit thankful that the ship I would be embarking on needed to get extensive repairs, I would have to keep the meadery in mind and maybe convince Aredhele to stock the House offices with a bottle or two...or five...for me when I get back…
Thankfully as I write this though, I am on board the ship, ‘The Pelican’, and awaiting the captain to give the orders to cast off. My time here in Kul’Tiras has been eventful and enjoyable. I will definitely mark this is a place to return. But my journey from here will get harder as now the next leg of my journey will find me entering into Horde Territory and while it seems that the Alliance and Horde may have an uneasy but ‘stable’ relationship considering current world events, I can only assume that not everyone in the Horde territories will agree with the Chieftains leadership and guidance. As a lone Human female about to travel the wide-open plains and ancient forests, I will have to always be on my guard.
