It has taken me entirely too long to announce that I am going to be a Local Leader for @smartfinproject I am so excited to be a part of this project, it has been three years in the making!! Turns out the ocean is like one of the most powerful things our simple minds can begin to comprehend and yet we know so little about it and how it responds to us dumping whatever we want into her for the last few thousand years.. The Smartfin turns you, the average Joe surfer into a citizen scientist that will help real scientists, people much smarter than us, understand what’s happening in the ocean in real time!! It’s pretty simple. Charge your fin. Go surfing. Upload data wirelessly with the phone you’re reading this on. Boom, you’re a scientist!!! You’re welcome! So, every time you go shred the gnar, you’ll be collecting live data ie. temperature, location, wave characteristics, and ways to measure other cool science stuff are in the works too!!
