Smasheltooth is a local electronic artist whose sound can best be described in her own words, “There once was a dreamy-eyed lass and only punk rock and hardcore could make her shake her ass. One day she was walking around the block when she heard a boombox play hip hop. She started dancing and yelling YAAAAY but fell over and landed in a pile of dancehall-reggae. Reggae covered her eyes and face when she meandered into a basement playing drum and bass. This music made her dance and shake her back until she thought she'd have a heart attack. Then an unknown mysteriously deep bass sound led her into a secret room where dubstep was abound. Deciding she'd already fallen in love with enough musics in this one day, she finally went home and had dreams of getting thizz faced and riding the whip with Mac Dre.” To experience the set that is “All in the name of DRE” come down to The Catalyst Club on October 11th to see her tear up the Mainstage. I hung out with Lauren for the majority of the day. It is so nice to have her back. She has been in Asia for the last 10 months. She usually keeps up on the Bay Area Music scene of all sorts, and just music in general. We were on a hip hop kick today. New, old, just different sounds in general. When I usually want some Hip hop, and some Dubstep, I look to start out with one of my Favorite DJ's, Smasheltooth. Her soundcloud, and mixes in general are high on my list of, frequently listened to. She only has a couple posted, it's better to see her live. I was lucky enough to catch a set of SMASHELTOOTH at rain dance during the pool party but her set was cut short i kid you not for vulgar language and inappropriate content. After feeling like i just watched NWA in the early 90's i knew everyone needed to hear this mix!
