It could just be me projecting, but saying things like "I'll make you mine" just feels.. covetous? It's.. unfitting. You aren't supposed to approach love with the ultimate goal of, I dunno, capturing someone?
Love isn't an acquisition, a seizure of affection. Love isn't control. It's.. the desire to be there for someone, however you can. Love isn't selfish: you don't love someone with expectation of something in return. Love isn't taking someone for your own, it's giving someone else a place in your heart . It feels reductive to try to say someone else is mine. I think it’s far more appropriate to say that I’m offering them something. Precise and much more profound. Rather than trying to acquire your affections, I offer you mine. No stipulations or expectations, just an unwavering desire to be there for another person. You’re not mine, that was never my goal
