We are +1: DORIAN CONCEPT joins -OUS

We are excited to announce the 2nd release within our collaboration with SMEM. Austrian musician Dorian Concept recorded nine tracks during his residency an the SMEM, which will be released on -OUS in December 2024.

Austrian musician Dorian Concept has been releasing music for close to two decades on influential labels like Ninja Tune and Brainfeeder, among others. As a cross- genre "synthesizer virtuoso," he mixes experimental electronic sounds with jazz, ambient, and club music. Due to his unmistakable sound and singular live show, he has become a sought-after performer.

In 2020, Dorian Concept was invited to be the 2nd artist in residence at the Swiss Museum and Centre for Electronic Music Instruments, a collaborative project between the SMEM and -OUS. During his stay at SMEM in Fribourg, Dorian Concept had access to the collection of over 5000 Synthesizers and Effects, of which he chose up to 20 pieces to record material live at the SMEM playroom. The resulting tracks will be released on -OUS in December 2024. WE ARE +1 (series)

-OUS and SMEM (Swiss Museum & Center for Electronic Music Instruments) are teaming up to launch the series «smem+ous», documenting the residencies at the SMEM Playroom. 

The first record comes from Legowelt, who was the first artist in residence in the SMEM Playroom in early 2019. His album «Unconditional Contours» will be released in early fall.  Legowelt has been a key figure in the Dutch electronic music scene since the early nineties, steadily releasing timeless music that merges influences from the Detroit and Chicago pioneers with his interest for sci-fi culture. He was invited by the Swiss Museum for Electronic Music Instruments (SMEM) to be the first artist in residence in their «Playroom».  SMEM and -OUS are launching the series «smem+ous» to document the «Playroom» residencies. A limited edition of this album was already sent out to early supporters of the «Playroom». Founded in 2016 and based on a collection of more than 5000 synthesizers, organs, drum machines and effects that had been collected over 35 year by Klemens Niklaus Trenkle, SMEM offers residencies, studio sessions, talks and workshops.
