Ok ok, with the oot remake coming out, we can all agree to be respectful to each other’s opinions, right? People excited for the remake aren’t going to personally insult people who don’t like it and vice versa, right? We can be normal about this yeah? We all know that a toxic fandom comes from people being unable to handle differing opinions right??? Right???
One thing I like about The Martian and Project Hail Mary is the fact that Watney and Grace survive not just cuz of their knowledge and problem solving skills, but because of who they are.
Watney is a more upbeat, positive guy. He has his moments but he doesn’t stop pushing forward and I believe that optimism helped him survive Mars up until his rescue.
Grace is a teacher and is able to connect with and understand people who are not at his level or who don’t communicate the same way he does. He’s able to save two stars and live because he was able to communicate and work with Rocky.
It’s just fun. I like these guys

Wow. I’ve been very discouraged about this story since I first started posting a comic. I’ve been hating my art, hating the story, hating everything and it’s been very VERY hard for me to make a coherent story that I like. I’ve rewritten this thing three times and I’m still not liking it. I haven’t drawn anything for this au and I’ve barely said anything on here.
But I looked and I almost have 1,000 followers????? So many people are invested in this and I’m so flattered?? The story has changed a lot and if I’m gonna continue a comic then the quality is going to drop but, wow. You guys 🥺 thanks so much. I hope I can continue with this cuz I have so many ideas that I’m super excited for but I’m hoping I can break out of this slump but thanks so much for sticking with me even tho I’ve been dead on here. It means a lot. <3 comparison is an awful thing but hopefully I can stop comparing this au to others. :)
You what I find extremely disheartening? Is how minimized platonic relationships are.
If two characters are super close, they’re either labeled as lovers or as family, related or not, and while I’m not entirely against that, it minimizes how strong and deep platonic relationships can go. It almost feels like two characters cannot be that close unless they’re in love or they’ve adopted each other, because friendships aren’t that strong. But it’s just not true.
Platonic relationships can be just as strong as familial and romantic relationships. People can care for each other deeply and go to great lengths to help each other and have it still be platonic because platonic isn’t simple or weak. It’s a form of love just like everything else and is capable of all the things other relationships are capable of.
Idk, just a small peeve of mine.
Ive seen phm 5 times now and it’s really funny how even the most annoying and talkative people in theaters lock in at the “time go fishing” and “excessive centrifuge” scenes
