Bye bye my blue - Taeyong
Summary: Bye bye my blue by Baek Yerin where you admire Taeyong, your best friend, but are too shy to approach him and confess. He’s one step ahead, though.
Lyrics look like this throughout the fic
[a/n]: i think this is my first piece for Taeyong? i’m thankful for this req ! also this took a bit of a wild turn LOL
Why am I jealous of what you have / Holding tight onto things I’ll never manage / How much better do I want to be / I know you’re the same, maybe I’m just being selfish / Although I have a lot, I’m still not quite like you / Every day I walk alone, over the painful memories
Taeyong seemed to have everything cut out for him. His social life, career and everything else seemed so perfect, just like him. He had so many friends, the best grades and was a great performer on top of everything.
You wished you could be like him.
But Taeyong would always tell you: “Don’t be silly, [y/n]. We’re exactly the same. We both struggle, we both prosper. That’s why we’re friends.”
He was so kind to you, always complimenting you but in reality, you would never be anything like him. Your soul was sad and scarred, your life imperfect.
Taeyong would hug you any time you told him this, burying his face in your shoulder. It was a hug that made your heart flutter.
“No, [y/n]. You’re so perfect as you are,” he’d say, and you could feel him smiling as he spoke.
Cuz I’m afraid to say things I want to say
I push you away and make things uncomfortable
When you realized your feelings for Taeyong, you stopped replying to his messages and would ignore him at school. Of course it broke your heart, but you didn’t want to burden Taeyong with your feelings for him. His life was going so well; you didn’t want to ruin his chances.
One day, he caught you off guard. You were rushing to leave school, looking down when you felt the strong grip of his hand on your arm, forcing you to stop. When you looked up, he was right there in front of you.
His expression contained anger and worry. You had stared into his eyes for so many years that you could always tell how he was feeling.
“[y/n], what’s going on? Why have you been avoiding me?” he asked you, his lips slightly quivering.
You lowered your gaze and tried to walk away.
“I’ve got to go, Taeyong.”
He wouldn’t loosen his grip.
“No, you don’t. Don’t you remember what you told me years ago? That when you like someone, you distance yourself from them? That there’s this one song you always listen to whenever your feelings for them grow stronger? You’ve been listening to it on Spotify, [y/n], and you’ve been avoiding me. I asked around and it seems like you’ve only been avoiding me.”
You felt dizzy. Did this mean Taeyong knew you liked him? Were you going to get rejected?
“I feel the same way, [y/n],” Taeyong said, his expression full of warmth now.
“I like you, there, I’ll say it first. Now you can be the one who chooses whether or not you want to reject me,” he continued.
You blinked up at him. He loosened his grip.
“It’s fine, [y/n]. You don’t have to answer me now. Just don’t ignore me anymore, okay? And know that I like you, I really do. It’s okay if you don’t-”
“I like you too!” you burst out, feeling your shoulders loosen. Finally, you said it.
Taeyong smiled at the blush coating your cheeks. He grabbed your hand and guided you to the stairs where you were headed before you ran into him.
“Good,” he said while walking. “Now there’s no way you’ll be ignoring me.”
