Sketched this tricky fellow out on the plane this morning. The brick pattern in this seax would be pretty challenging.
I've decided to go with handle option number 5. I adjusted the bolster a little longer to allow for the blade to stay at full width. I etched it tonight and the pattern looks great! I can't wait to get a decent shot of this with my better camera.
