“Make them”. That’s the problem right there. You’re thinkin’ your involvement will change stuff for the better - and sometimes it does, don’t get me wrong.
But usually, tryin’ to force something to happen will get a violent snapback effect - the exact opposite reaction. Mecha like to dig their heels in if you’re making em do stuff they don’t want to, even if they haven’t recognized they don’t actually want to do it yet. I think it’s leftover newspark programming that never quite stopped being a thing, honestly.
Mostly just keep an optic on em and see how things develop naturally, and if there’s room for it you’re allowed a couple helpful nudges here n’ there. Nothing big and obvious, though, and know when to back down.
It’s a careful, excruciatingly slow process, rebuilding trust. Don’t rush it.
