Now winding back a little bit, Jane pre arriving at the institute still trapped martin in his flat for a little while and even though she did apologize over tea martin both will not (trauma) and cannot (the worms ate through the yk important structural parts of the building) return home

Gertrude admitting to knowing he was there abd several people going ballistic over that tidbit of information

Furstly tim and Sasha are rightfully angry but primarily jon, jon goes off at Gertrude and when she offers martin a chance to stay in the archives and before martin can even answer jon is rejecting her and offering martin the spare room in his flat

Martin does the logical thing and takes jons offer cue friends to lovers omg they were roommates speedrun

The other reactions to this news are mostly micheal and gerry because clearly Gertrude already knows the consequences of not helping her assistants

Gerry is ignoring Gertrude (which she pretends to enjoy but it does in fact just mske her sad) and micheal is not, his anger is just making him extra statiky and whatnot and he's following her around and looming or spending even more time with gwrry than usual (she hates both of these)

All this leads to her giving a reluctant kind of half passed apology wich martin accepts and everyone else accepts as good enough for this to only count as strike 2

Anyways pt. 3 is done abd this was supposed to be a throwaway headcannon but turns out its fun and ill probably do more or maybe write a fic.
