“Smooooch, how could you??”
Himeko pulls on one of Smooooch’s ears, which stretches comically without causing the stand any actual harm- But Smooooch is struggling to escape anyway.
“What’d I doooooo?! Sachi, heeeeeelp!!”
“Sorry, I kinda also wanna know what you did.”
“So meeeeeaaaan—!!”
“I’d say I thought you were more responsible than this, but since you’ve only been with Sachi… You can’t play favorites like that!!”
“Huh? Huh?”
“Don’t pretend you don’t know! Kanade-chan told me herself you bit her, but she didn’t know how to fight monsters at all!!”
“Who?????”
“Yeah, actually, who?”
“Soooo… That’s the situation. We didn’t tell Hime-chan who you are, but if you don’t show up with us as Kanade-chan every so often, she’s… Gonna get suspicious,”
“Or angry!”
“Or angry…” Sachi lowers her head and presses her hands together over it. “So please, hang out with us as Kanade-chan for a little bit, like… Once a week! We won’t bother you any time other than that we super, super promise!”
Kunio had silently listened to Sachi’s explanation, arms crossed- Seemingly taking all of this much better than Sachi had expected, though that’s mostly because he’s thinking.
Clearly, Himeko had been fooled, and she’s an academic overachiever on the same level as him… And he might be able to eat delicious things again if Kanade hangs out with these girls, even if he doesn’t particularly enjoy their company.
On the other hand, every time someone new has come into contact with Kanade, the situation has become more complicated and troubling. Won’t it be difficult to keep the secret if Kanade becomes familiar to the public? Not to mention… The whole situation with Monami.
…But it’s true that it would be bad if Himeko started actively searching for Kanade. If she gets enough people on the case, there are sure to be some who could put information together that leads back to him.
There isn’t a good way out of this. The best he can do is come up with some sort of backstory for Kanade that will keep people from asking questions.
“…Fine. Once a week.”
“I promise it’ll- Wait, really?”
“Does it look like I have a choice?”
Shit… If Kanade’s going to be going out in public, she needs some clothes that aren’t recognizable as Kunio’s, but also not so feminine that he’d have to worry about his dad finding them.
But Kanade is going to go get them alone.
Kunio doesn’t doubt that Sachi or Himeko would turn this into a dress up montage ordeal, and he simply doesn’t have the energy for that.
Well the zombie sorta did grave robbery to get his body put together? Does grave robbery count if you need it?
“Oh, weird… Is there really a cemetery around here that buries people without cremation? That’s a little scary, especially if a body really did come back to life!!”
“Waaaahh! Nooooo!!”

A second weird little creature shaped like a box with a big ribbon on top floats over.
“If somebody already has a stand, they can see us, and if they don’t have one but they’re capable of handling it, they can’t see us, but they can hear our voice. That’s how we find out the kinds of people we can partner with!
…But honestly… What would happen? Would they gain our power on top of it? Would our power overwrite theirs? Or… Would something really bad happen…?”
