I think about this with my toddler sometimes. Like I feel like it’s good for him to be able to group toy monkeys and letter by color, but am I also teaching him segregation?
i think what bothers me the most is that the diversity lessons are un-under-articulated and if the “differences/othering” lessons are going to be so direct and blatant then the talk about valuing diversity needs to be just as direct and open and blatant right alongside it. but... i’m glad i’m not the only one who has felt this and... it seems, feels... idk more than coicidental that the line is so strong in my memory - so easily accessed the verse/tune seems to come up almost on it’s own in my mind. :(
maybe we could/should might want to share some ideas about how to make the value-diversity message easily accessible and direct. I’d love to hear ideas if anyone has them!
