i just saw a post talking about the lack of fluffy fics and i think we should have the real conversation :/. now in no way am i targeting the op or saying this is what they are doing or assuming what they’ve done. but, one thing i love as a writer is engagement. it quite literally, even when i don’t necessarily allow it to, makes or breaks my will to post. writers will put “likes, comments, reblogs are appreciated” and then if it takes off there will be 100+ likes, maybe 100+ reblogs (with no tags or comments), and no comments, and if there are a couple, or one, that is just the commentor asking for more.

there is no positive feedback for the writer, likes only do so much. but writers loveee their works and they want the chance to knowww other people do too. the problem is that there are a lot of post where ppl complain (not all complaining is negative) about the lack of their favorite genres or pieces about their favorite characters, but no one is telling that to the writers. no one is commenting or in some cases, sending asks to those writers praising the works or talking to them about the works. everyone always wants more but don’t live in the moment with the writers who spent their free time putting out an idea that popped in their head or sat there for weeks. let your writers know you enjoy their works and they’re more likely to make more.

everyone has community, make sure to always take care of yours!! don’t pressure, appreciate. when i was just a reader i didn’t really understand just how important feedback is to writers, we must have empathy. we are humans not machines, numbers don’t always comfort us. if you like a work, like it. comment on it, reblog so others can see too. appreciate them and they’ll feel that they were right about their ideas being good. that the hours they spent on characterization and plot weren’t for nothing!!
