I will say the woodstein dynamic hits even harder if you’ve read carl’s memoir loyalties (which is a fascinating portrait of a childhood in the shadow of mccarthyism) cause you get to watch them go from “oh god not bernstein” and “office prima donna” to “invited woodward over for seder and he found the afikomen” and “drove hundreds of miles with the tape recorder rolling to untangle the threads of this messy, emotional, deeply personal story” like. that kind of friendship doesn’t happen everyday.

ok spoilers but

I went to see Our Hero, Balthazar at a movie theater in the city and it was interesting, kept me guessing, but I keep seeing reviews abt how this movie is about TWO horrible young men but ngl I’m not sure it is???? like ok maybe I missed smth without my glasses but Solomon is not Actually a school shooter he’s playing a part bc he thinks that’s what Balthazar wants which he actually does say out loud and he reads as very autistic to me like as far as I can say he’s a weird guy who’s had a really shitty life and has very poor social and emotional regulation skills but I don’t think he actually does anything all that bad in the movie… like the worst thing he does is threaten rich boy into buying a fuckton of supplements (funny) and point a gun at his (horrible, abusive) father… and the rest which is set off by the death of his grandma like I think in real life this guy would probably be targeted by kiwifarms
