It occurs to me that snakes are similar to badgers in that they will rack up debts. But of course not in the same way. Badgers keep track of balance sometimes - favors owed, favors given.

Snake debt is more like sleep debt (Sigh, my 1am brain is laughing at me) Snakes evaluate new people they meet and place them on preliminary tiers. If someone triggers a Snake's internal warnings, it can take a long time for that person to work their way into another tier and make up the debt of bad actions. Similarly it can take a lot for a close tier person to run out their "credit" of being in the top tier before they start to get pushed away

What inspires a Snake primary to say, "You. You are my person."?

I wish I knew. Because I certainly don’t deserve that kind of loyalty.

My favorite sorting in media is Snake Primary. Give me all the characters who would turn the world upside down for the people they love.

Yes 🥺🥺. It's remarkably nice as a Snake Primary to see it in media too. Baby Snakes all need good role models who show them it really is okay to act in the best interests of Your Person(s) (and um but probably not how to Burn The World Doing It irl aldljfhaja)

It's also so fun just to see how Snakes choose to act??! Because depending on the secondary (and just the Snake), you can have a heist plot or the cutest slow burn or a literal fricking riot.

Unsolicited book rec: Madeleine Miller's Circe is filled with all kinds of Snake primaries (and some Birds!) of both good, bad, patient and impulsive kinds. Her Odysseus is also so wonderfully portrayed. The Man of Many Turns and how unsettling the other Greeks can find him feels so true to the time period setting
