Summary: after his brush with death, Severus is returned to you after weeks in St Mungo’s hospital

AN: okay so I tried to not make a carbon copy of my first Snamione multi chapter fic I wrote over a year ago (link). So hopefully you enjoy it <33

Warnings: mentions of the aftermath of nagini’s attack

The first thing he realised when his eyes fluttered open was that he was no longer laying on that godawful lumpy hospital cot.

The second thing he noticed was the familiar, yet missed, scent of your shampoo drifting up his nostrils and the comforting heat that radiated from your slumbering form.

“YN… am I…?”

Your eyes opened slowly and you gazed up at him. “Yes, Sev,” you whispered. “You’re back home where you belong,”

Severus’s frowning brow smoothed into a wide smile as he looked down at you with adoration. “I’ve missed you, my love,” he murmured.

Gently, you rested your hand on his cheek and smiled at him. “I’ve missed you too, Severus, every single day… they wouldn’t let anyone in the room when you were… were in hospital,” you shut your eyes as tears began pooling in them and Severus smiled softly at you. He moved his hand over yours slowly, bringing it to his mouth to kiss your palm.

“I’m back now, love. Exactly where I belong. Right next to you. Now, hush and give me a kiss,”

You grinned at him and leaned over, kissing his softly, gently, yet passionately, weeks of pent up emotion spilling over, you were finally able to share it with the man you loved dearly.

You pulled away much too soon for Severus’s liking, but he didn’t complain as almost instantly, you were snuggled into his side, head resting gently on his shoulder. You pressed a soft kiss to the puckered scar tissue on his neck and he shivered slightly, but did not push you away.

“My strong, brave love,” you murmured, and he squeezed your hip gently.

“My dear, I am neither of those things,” you opened your mouth to protest, but he quickly hushed you. “I am, however, incredibly lucky,”

When Severus first shows you affection

ALSO: I have 85 followers now??? that’s WILD like literally, I’m so glad you all enjoy my little fics and writings, it makes me so happy to see others enjoy my work. Wowza. okay so I’m feeling rather snuggly, so I decided that I’d quite fancy snuggling with Sev. Enjoy! Oh, before I forget- if I was to write.... s m u t... would you be into that? if you aren’t, you don't have to read it, but if you ARE... Slytherin to my asks with a request, and I’ll see what I can do ;)

-At first, he’s really not a fan of ‘snuggling’ 

-considering how long it took him to get used to holding your hand, it’s not surprising really that when you leaned your head on his shoulder for the first time, he completely tensed up

-He HATES that it takes so long for him to get used to your affection. In his mind, there is always the risk you could find him standoffish and cold, and just leave him for a younger, more affectionate man

-You don't think that at all. 

-the first few times you slept in the same bed, he kept firmly to his half, letting you curl up or spread out however you so pleased as you slept, but when he nodded off, his fists were clenched tight and his toes curled too. And when you woke up, his side of the bed was cold, as he was already up and dressed and pottering about. 

-Eventually, (with the aid of a little firewhiskey) he manages to hold your hand first, rather than having you slip your hand into his. You can’t help but beam at him, though you keep your distance just in case he gets uncomfortable

-that same night, he watches as you nod off reading (as always). he has never actually seen you asleep- at least not when you’re bathed by the golden lamplight, face totally relaxed, with your lips open ever so slightly, truly peaceful. 

-he watches for a while, before moving your book and marking your place with a bit of parchment (he knows dogearing pages bothers you). He then lowers you carefully, so you’re lying down rather than sitting, and when you move closer to the source of warmth, he doesn’t pull away to lay flat on his back. instead, he lets you curl into his chest, resting his chin on top of your head and matching his breathing with yours

-as he nods off, all he can think is ‘it’s not too bad, this ‘snuggling’’
