SNC-Lavalin has landed more than 100 government contracts since Trudeau ethics controversy

Of the contracts awarded to SNC since January last year, 125 were for services and 17 were for construction.

Aaron Wudrick, the federal director of the Canadian Taxpayers Federation, said he was shocked SNC-Lavalin was continuing to receive government contracts.

“I think from SNC-Lavalin’s standpoint these are not giant contracts,” said Wudrick. “They often deal with contracts that are much larger, so this is small potatoes for them. But I think a lot of Canadians would be surprised to know they are active in bidding after the seriousness of what happened last year.”

In August of last year, Mario Dion, the ethics commissioner, found Trudeau guilty of breaching ethic rules by trying to persuade his attorney general to give SNC-Lavalin a deferred prosecution agreement in relation to criminal charges it was facing.

like it's not even an issue of which political party you support, this is about the leader of our country allowing illegal shit to happen just because the government is profiting off of it. that's not ok, no one should be ok with that.

One thing that people aren't talking about nearly enough in Trudeau's SNC Lavalin affair is this implication that the government can just lean on the media to get sympathrtic op-eds to soothe the public over its corruption. Like the guys in the PMO just flat out said that this is a thing that they can do, and they're probably right because they're part of the same tiny incestuous ruling class as the people running the newspapers.

The firm slashed its 2018 guidance twice in three weeks, more than halving its profit forecast and halting all bidding on future mining projects amid an ongoing diplomatic feud between Canada and Saudi Arabia — a key source of oil and gas revenue — and delays on SNC's project with Codelco, Chile's state-owned copper mining company, which has since cancelled the contract.

Last month, the company announced plans to wind down its operations in 15 countries and reported a $17-million loss in its latest quarter.
