Oooh, it's so hard to choose! I think my one of my favourites would be Douma's interaction with his fellow Upper Moons. His behaviour around them fascinates me because in that scene he is free. He is no longer the 'Great Founder', none of the demons want anything from him, yet he still behaves like the divine leader who will help them with anything. Even when he's physically free of the cult, he's still trapped in that mindset they imposed on him.

Oooh a little analysis going on here. I think it's because being the head of that cult is all he's really ever known unfortunately. He's built his entire (ableit fake) personality around it. Though I do wish we saw more interaction between all the upper moons to provide a bigger picture of their characters 😔

I get the newspaper the same way as everyone else, although the News Coo sometimes have a hard time reaching Thriller Bark. I’m a patient guy though, and there isn’t too much competition for warriors with strong bodies once they’ve died... kishishishi!

Ahh, I was heartbroken when I found out that rotten flamingo was being sent to Impel Down. I really wanted to kill him! Not because he tried to assassinate me after the “War of the Greatest”, though—keshishi—but just because I hate his guts!

  All things considered, this had been...UNEXPECTED.

  This assassin certainly did not remind Cecil of a heroic spirit.  Yes, he gets the innate sense that this fox is exactly the type of servant his father had warned him of.  Too cunning for his own good, too crafty to assume loyalty.

  That’s just fine, in truth.  Cecil doesn’t trust many people to begin with.  It seems this servant will be just as the rest of the world.  Privy to no secrets, no bonds.  He will now have to watch for the knife in his back IN HIS OWN HOME.

  He’s had to leave the crafty fox alone in his house for the majority of the day while he works, and is praying not to come home and find the place destroyed, as though he’s acquired an unruly pet.  He isn’t sure exactly how wily KITSUNE are. 

  “ Assassin, I’m home. “

Hi there! Kxsuriuri mun here :D Thanks so much for the follow. I was worried when I made my blog that the fandom would be dead, but it's great to see blogs of people who love this series. I only discovered Mononoke (properly) a week or so ago, so I'm a very new fan lol. A decade late, but still. The first time I even glimpsed a bit of the show was a clip from Nopperabo. At the time, with zero context, I thought Kusuriuri was the bad guy XD It's funny to think of now. Anyway, hi!!

But yes! I will always follow another mononoke blog instantly 😁 Welcome to the club! I know it feels weird to find something that just lights up your heart and head ages after its been new and popular but I'm really happy you've found the series and I'm happy to keep the fandom going for you and all the other fans, new and old XD It's just the sort of series that sticks with people so even though the fandom isn't very active I think there's still a lot of affection for it around which is really sweet.

And Kusu does have the air of a villain doesn't he? He makes it hard to say he's totally benevolent too lol

Oh right. For some reason I thought that the zombies died in sunlight too and didn’t think about how there was sunlight in Marineford. So I guess it is useful in sunlight.
