''see you later, eren''.
maybe in another lifetime.
This chapter was incredible to me and I feel so nostalgic now but I'm still confused when it comes to explain Mikasa headaches. I can understand why she had headaches in the last chapter (probably because it was Eren using his power on her to show her that long vision) but why did she has headaches at some point in the story before this moment ? What is your thoughts about it ?
I’m not going to list all of Mikasa’s headaches, but they been a feature since chapter. I used to think losing Carla is what triggered the first one, but now I’m not so sure.
Her second headache was (unsurprisingly) triggered by Louise.
I used to think that headache was triggered by Mikasa seeing a loving mother daughter relationship. Now, knowing that Louise had later plot significance, I’m not so sure.
I don’t think we’ll get many answers in the final chapter, but I think we’ll get the answer to this. And I will be exactly 0% surprised if this is in fact a time loop. If it’s not, my other guess would be that Mikasa’s future actions have been bleeding through into her past consciousness.
Thanks for the ask!
Eren Yeager in Shingeki no Kyojin, Chapter 1: To You, 2000 Years from Now
Hi mom, can you tell us your thoughts about the new chapter? Honestly, I'm feeling disappointed every month. I feel that Isayama created a situation where he got stuck and didn't know how to get out, so he created new "skills" for the characters to save his own skin ("time travel", visions of the future). Anyway, bad writing and bad decisions.
I actually really love the chapter. I do agree with you that Isayama has invented some unlikely and crazy new ‘skills’ (as you put it) in the past, but I don’t see this being an instance of that.
Timeline shenanigans has been foreshadowed since chapter one with the title “To You in 2000 Years”. It had Eren waking from a dream with a vision of older Mikasa saying “See you later, Eren.” Because of that, time travel and time loop theories have been a part of the meta conversation from the very beginning of the series.
There was a wonderful explanation on reddit (I think) that was shared with me third hand so I don’t know who the author is. I’m also going by memory so I may have some details wrong, but the idea is to forget time as a linear thing, and instead picture it as a closed loop. Past, present and future all exist. Eren isn’t changing the past. Everything has always happened. Alternately think of it as a book that’s been completely written. It only makes sense to us if we start reading at the beginning, but the middle and ending are already there.
Eren isn’t changing the past. It was always his past. The Attack Titan seeing the future is like skipping ahead in a book. They can’t change the ending, but they skip ahead and read it.
So i understand the frustration with this chapter, but I’m really excited about it. I’m been waiting for the time travel shoe to drop for a long time, and I’ve worried about how it would impact the story. If anything, I’m hugely relieved to see how it’s finally been incorporated.
Thanks for the ask!
Hello mom! I would like to hear your idea about Ymir Fritz being the girl in Eren dream. Since the girl appearance is resemble Mikasa for me, I have been believing that she is hers all along. But I accept different opinions and want to see more details about it.
It’s more vague speculation than an actual theory but a partially shrouded mystery girl appearing in a dream saying “See you later, Eren” in a chapter entitled “To you in 2000 years” is perfect material for all sorts of crazy conspiracy theories. Through the years I’ve heard theories that it’s time traveling Mikasa, Frieda, Kiyomi, and now Ymir Fritz. I enjoy all of them.
It makes increasing sense that there is a Ymir Fritz entity behind the scenes manipulating event via paths. She may be the one who gave Zeke this vision. She may be the one who gave Kruger the memories of Armin and Mikasa. She may be the one who appeared to Eren in chapter one.
If so, she’s able to appear in various forms that would be impactful or familiar to the recipient.
Zeke had studied the Marleyan and Eldian history books. He’d be familar with the pictures of the young girl with the devil, so he’d have recognized the person sculpting his body. She’s part of his royal lineage, a direct ancestor.
Eren wouldn’t. He only learned those histories when he received Grisha’s memories. If Ymir Fritz was to send a message to Eren in a vessel that would be impactful to him, Mikasa would be a good choice.
Like i said, it’s nothing concrete. Just a cool what if.
Thanks for the ask!
I love how 10-years-old Mikasa reacts to Eren’s speech
Eren’s memories
Waiting for Attack on titan’s episode, I’m on a manga mood.
“To you, 2000 years from now” some says that it’s a person who is telling a story to someone, or a person in the futur who is reading a book (writen by Armin? and telling what happenned before) but the title of this chapter is still a mystery for me and it scares me as well.
And this scene too: ...
It starts with Erwin and his squad defeating the titans and then we have this:
The firsts protagonist to be shown are Eren and Mikasa. It starts with Eren having a dream/vision where a girl appears and it seems to be Mikasa from the “futur”. When he woke up he asks her since when her hair got this long. While in the anime version he asks her what is she doing there.
The thing that caught me was Eren crying. Why? The feeling was this strong for him to cry? Was it a scene from the futur where he has to leave Mikasa and the others? And the fact that he cried was because the separation was painful? I don’t know it’s just my thought, if someone has another interpretation I’m open.
In the anime version this scene is quite different:
Eren sees differents stuff, like these dools, the curtains also intrigues me in the first pic, I tried to look for the symbols on them to know what it means but nothing. And this uniform, from another nation?
Eren even saw (without knowing it) his mother being eaten by the smiling titan.
So the scene between the anime and the manga is different, but the thing we have in common is that Eren could see things rom the futur and when he woke up he does’nt remember anything.
Why Wit did change this scene, maybe they choose to put the “See you later Eren” somewhere else in the anime? Or to cancel it, but that would be a pity.
---> and then these flowers had been shown several times, I did’nt find any signification, but I remember someone did a post about these flowers and its meaning. The name is “Campaluna” I think, tell me if I’m wrong.
I heard that the meaning could mean the “thanks” and the “gratitude”.
The girl in Eren’s dream is definitly Mikasa, I’m sure of it. Isayama talked in an interview about a “separation” between these two. But I still can’t understand how Eren could has been able to see these things from the futur knowing that in this time he didn’t has any titan himself.
It started with Eren and Mikasa, it will end by them being separated. It sounds sad but still, it’s just my thought, I’m probably wrong.
Welll guys I just wanted to bring this up to know a bit of your opinions and theories. ;)
