Momtaku, I'd love to hear your thoughts on a recent idea of mine regarding the Historia memory shard. The more I think about it, the more sense it makes that it foreshadows Historia's reaction to what Eren is doing. I used to think Hisu was on board but it could be a situation of "Eren promised me he'd never do this... so why?". Betrayal of sorts. Wouldn't surprise me as lies have been said to give others a sense of security (think back to Armin in RtS to Eren). So he told her he'd never rumble.
If that’s a future memory of Historia, I’d say Well played Isayama! I feel like the majority, myself included, are taking it at face value that Eren is the cloaked figure who approached her in 108 and that this memory is from that day, but I’m always down for being wrong. Especially when surprise is a factor.
There are lots of reasons for Historia to be crying in that memory, whether it’s past or future. I’ve seen some speculation that Eren confessed to his role in slaughtering her family. Some people think he’s the one who forced the pregnancy. Others think she’s crying because she is worried for him and doesn’t want him to take the path he’s taking. If it is a future memory, I feel like the rumbling would absolutely make her cry. I personally don’t see any scenario were she’d be ok with mass worldwide slaughter. I agree with you that betrayal of some sort makes the most sense since he’s betrayed basically everyone at this point and I can’t see Historia being an exception.
