STRANGE AS SHE APPEARS TO BE
A devilish thing you are — or at least — that's what everyone else thinks but not Levi. You're a princess and your father's only heir. Your mother has tried to give your father more children to no avail, some say his seed is rotten, gone bad by all the evil he's done. A tyrant, he is. The common folk fear that you've inherited his cruelty and disregard for life but not Levi. He's your personal bodyguard after all and spends most, if not all of his time with you.
You think of him as a companion, a loyal friend you can count on. He's really only loyal because his bloodline was made to be. Totally submissive to the royal family's wishes, you tell yourself it's something else entirely — that he has agency outside of what is coursing through his very veins.
"I want what's rightfully mine, Levi. I want the throne." You complain, watching from a distance as your father pays your cousin, Eren more mind than he ever did you. "Look at him, father is probably considering on making Eren his heir."
Levi shifts, his plated armor gleaming in the soft light. "You don't know that, princess." He retorts.
You can't help but roll your eyes, Levi is usually on your side but nowadays he seems more distant. Was this your father's doing? You've only caught glimpses of your father disappearing from the castle with your bodyguard in tow, but you never dared suspect any foul play.
"What's wrong with you, Levi? You're acting differently, I won't stand for it any longer." There's no doubt in your voice, no fear in your eyes.
"Don't you dare tell me you're playing for my father now."
When he looks at you, his gaze is different, robotic in a sense. He looks half dead with no shine left in his eyes. It startles you, really. You've never seen Levi in such a state. A man like himself; stoic, reliable and capable didn't seem like the type to be manipulated but now you're beginning to doubt your own mind.
"No." Levi shakes his head. "You're right, princess. The throne is rightfully, and lawfully yours."
A smile returns to your face, perhaps you're just paranoid?
He's as strange as he appears to be.
