I looked at the new pikmin 4 enemies the grubchuker and snootwhacker I had to wonder why would something evolved to have its mouth on top of its head and what the hell are the snootwackers supposed to be

I honestly thought the grubchuckers had symbiotic anemones on their heads

Also snooty hackers are probably meant to be elephants, but there’s some problems with this. If they’re meant to be descended from real existing elephants and not a fictional small species, then the issues are that super huge megafauna doesn’t fare well during extinction events/climate change and their long lifespans mean they evolve slower. It is possible that they’re descended from either Asian or African elephants that just got smaller and smaller, but a Pig is also a viable option. Possibly one related to the false blowhog.
