He closes his eyes and holds his phone to his chest for a few seconds, smiling widely and trying to control his breathing before he does something stupid like let out a victory cry in the middle of the library. He knows Zuko likes him, but reading it is different now, now that he knows it’s more than just a friendly like. (in which we see what happens *after* the big first kiss)

EXCERPT

“What’s with the hair down? I know Zuko likes it that way, but I thought it’s hard to take notes with it in your face?”

“Zuko likes my hair like this?” Sokka asks quickly.

Suki rolls her eyes. “Now that we have established that you two definitely like each other, I can spill all the secrets he has told me while pining over you. Yes, he thinks you look great with your hair down. His brain short circuits when you run your fingers through it.”

“He told you that?” Sokka hides his face in his hands to cover his dopey smile. “I still can’t believe this is real. How long have you known?”

“When did you two meet?” she smirks. “Really, we could all see it day one, even if it took you two a little longer to figure it out, and even longer to do something about it.”

MY COMMENTS

For the love of God, the pining here is so clear despite the fact that they already are dating, well, at least their first date. These two are disasters, adorable ones, but still disasters and this fic covers it perfectly. Honestly, this fic is just full on fluff and squishy, soft feelings. Ugh, this fic is indulging my fluff needs.

Tonight Pretty Boy actually seems kind of shaken up, and he’s been a staple of Katsuki’s walk back to his apartment for so long that Katsuki’s ‘not my problem’ reflex doesn’t kick in. “You okay?”

“I’m fine,” Pretty Boy says, and he has a lower voice than Katsuki was imagining, and maybe since he’s been caught off guard he’s turned off the sultry, superior air he gives off when Katsuki sees him with other men.

He’s more real in the face and less practiced. More blank. Maybe there’s something wrong with Katsuki that he likes him better this way.

or: Katsuki doesn't normally fall in love with people he meets out on the street, this is the exception

In Katsuki's (correct) opinion, Shouto doesn't need make-up. But it's not about that. It's about what Shouto likes. And he likes this shit. The glitter and the blush like a pop of champagne for his cheekbones.

A sweep of gloss over his full lips while Katsuki holds him steady. "Should have kissed you before. Now I'll ruin it."

"No. Kiss me now. You can always re-do it."

It’s hurting. Todoroki hurts and Katsuki will not be the one to actually hurt him. “You’ll get your chance, ok?! Damn it-you’ll get your chance. There’s always gonna be chances for you and me. Shut up and stop thinking,” and shit, there he goes again giving orders.

Why can’t he ever just think and be nice. He hears the criticism in his mother’s voice. Years of arguments there, but at least the two of them always understood each other eventually, because they did things the same.

Todoroki isn’t like that though. If you’re nice to hold, he’ll go right ahead and say it. He'll give his love openly, sinking into Katsuki’s arms like it's nothing.
