Noragami Chapter 77 Theories/Analysis
Okay so I've already posted half of this reply onto this text post here: https://boxmates.tumblr.com/post/176725818919/this-is-just-a-ramble-but-i-think-nora-is-telling
But here is my response in full to chapter 77:
I have two sides of the story thought out, so really I'm not technically on either side in regards to "It's a trap" or "Mizuchi is being genuine". Really this could go either way.
I feel like Mizuchi could possibly be unaware of the situation. I don't think it would be too hard to believe that Fujisaki would manipulate Mizuchi into creating ties with Yukine through that initial kiss that was set up, later on tossing her out purpously knowing full well that the only person Mizuchi could easily and "safely" go to would be Yukine.
This is due to him seemingly being the only one there for her in the sense that Yukine is more likely to give her a chance than anyone else. What I mean by this is that Yukine is probably the only person that wouldn't immediately push Mizuchi away and or attack her on site.
By doing this though, Fujisaki could fallow Mizuchi, get to Yukine with ease, and then Yato or fallow through with whatever plot he has in store.
For Noragami, this seems like the better route to take plot-wise rather than it just being left as "HAHA IT WAS A TRAP, SEE MY AMAZING FAKE CRYING?!" because let's be honest, that would be boring and has already been used through the kiss scene. Plus, Fujisaki wouldn't be stupid enough to use that plan twice, especially with the potential threat of Yato being around. If Yato happened to be there, Mizuchi would take the fall or even be spared by Yato since her situation has left her at a loss and knowing Yato, he wouldn't be a complete asshole about it, in turn, leaving Fujisaki safe at a distance and aware of what happened.
If it is fake and is a genuine trap though with Mizuchi aware of the situation, we can all say that she was at the very least taken aback by Yukine's kindness. Because regardless of what they have put him and Yato through, Yukine still showed respect by covering her up. By doing this, it's almost as if Yukine was putting a sort of barrier between them though as well. While it appeared as though Yukine mindlessly fell into an emotional trap, it seems more so like by putting the jacket over Mizuchi, Yukine was showing her how vulnerable she herself was being and how far she has fell into being a tool by Fujisaki, degrading herself and exposing herself in such a way. More than anything, I'd like to believe that by being mature and showing Mizuchi how demeaning the little "stunt" was (if it even was a stunt), Yukine was able to place boundaries between them emotionally and give Mizuchi a little eye-opener.
These are just my thoughts and ideas, I'm not saying they're correct or that anyone else's theories aren't valid.
I drew Yukine digitally finally! My favorite scene would have to be when the Ablution was taking place for him.
Yukine's death
(This is excluding the flashes of images given to us about Yukine's death by the way)
Quick thing, maybe it's not normal for a regalia to see their god when they are having those memory dreams induced by their name chipping.
For example, Yukine seeing Yato.
What if the reason why Yukine sees Yato in his dreams is because Yato was a part of Yukine's death. The only reason why Yukine feels secure knowing that Yato was there is because he knows and trusts who Yato is currently, but remember that Yato wasn't a good god up until more recently so..
Maybe that was why Yato cried after seeing Yukine's past and death, because he was a part of it, and or, the reason for it.
It doesn't all have to be bad though, if the Tsukiyomi theory is right then Yukine could have been relieved to be in the hands of Tsukiyomi when dying and that's why he has no fear when experiencing the dreams.
But anyways, I highly doubt this is true it's just a little food for thought.
Yukine's Death Theory
So what if
That bus that Hiyori got hit by
Foreshadowed Yukine’s death
What if
Yukine went to send a letter that he wrote to that girl that left with that women in the vague flashbacks we have been given But he got hit by a bus while going to cross the rode to slip the mail into the mailbox
And therefore never could send the letter to her
His only (possibly) lifeline
That’s why
He was there beside the mailbox when Yato found him
- - - - This little theory is probably 100% wrong and cliché with the bus but EYYYYY
